Heres a Motor Wheel Spyder cone machined down to fit a Buick wheel center. Notice the slope of the Buick center matches the slope of the remaining part of the cone.
Here it is attached to the wheel. This wheel is stripped awaiting glass beading, so the inset part is not presently painted black as it should be.
If youns are wondering what I'm up too..... I bought these Spyders for my former 72 Skylark. I sold it and I've been craving an aftermarket wheel for my Regal. SO I've decided to use the Spyders. Problem is ( I think it is anyway ) that they are a very retro looking wheel that I'm not sure would jive with the Regal. So I've decided to bring them into the eighties. Spyder cones are often damaged, or nosed as I say. So cutting a few bad ones down don't hurt so much. I feel the addition of the Buick wheel center accomplishes the update, while still having style. So the next step is some custom machined lugnuts and lotsa elbow grease on the wheels. If anyone has some real bad Spyder caps, I could use them cause two of mine are pretty good, and I'd rather have bad ones cut.
looks good, post some photos when you get them done. Are those Buick rims and if so what was their application.
Motor Wheel Spyders were an aftermarket wheel. They were made in the late sixties and early seventies. Of course Motor Wheel also made the chrome Buick road wheel, so there is a Buick connection.
