    Good morning everyone, I wanted to know if anyone has any experience working with the OPGI Rear (tail section), Wiring Harness? The two reviews it got say its great, so I thought instead of spending the time energy and effort trying to piece meal I would just go this route. The link to the harness is;

Any input on this harness or one that was hassle free and worked would be great!

    Thanks guys,

    Doug

OPGI does nothing but resell stuff.

They add no value to anything.

Buy direct from M&H or American Autowire.

They have the tech support, and OPGI does not.

I can speak from experience American Autowire is a pleasure to deal with. They did my engine harness.

    No brainer here..

If you have the time off during the day, go visit M&H.. They are right off the I-5 in So Cal.. Might want to call and make sure they have one sitting on the shelf for your car.

    Good luck

M&H is the best - great wiring and great tech help if needed. Re-did 3 different entire cars with their harnesses over the past few years, no complaints.

Thanks for the info, I wasn't able to call them today before I got home, but I'm gona try to in the morning. I did see that the part number was the same (could be something there or could mean nothing). Again, thanks for the info, I'm gona follow up on it tomorrow!

    Thanks,

    Doug

Thank you for pointing out that this harness is available. I had to re-do the tail light sockets on my 65 Skylark. If I have problems in the future I will buy this kit. M&H is not that far from me. Neither is OPGI for that matter.

As a heads up, I just ordered a dash harness for my 64 Skylark from M&H and was told they are 16-18 weeks behind in production. If they don't have yours on the shelf, it will take a while!

M&H is who I use! call to make sure they have the part already made. If not could be a month or more! Good stuff from them!

M&H had to make my 65 GS engine harness because they were out of stock. It took them weeks not months and it was an exact duplicate of my original in every detail and they did not have my old one. They have the correct schematics,colors,terminals,etc....and the price is not reflective of the quality. I have seen a lot of harnesses that are marked up for the next guy,but M&H sells the best quality at a better price.

    Hey guys,

Got my M&H harness in yesterday, got home from work and it was sitting on my front porch waiting on me. It is a work of art! I'll keep you guys posted if you like.

    Regards,

    Doug

The reason for the wait is the fuse panel on the '64's is unique and only M&H makes a replacement. Other companies such as American Autowire require the customer to send in the original fuse panel and they will connect the wiring. The alternative is to go with a universal replacement from AA, Ron Francis or Painless.

Ok guys, installed the harness, and while it as simple and mostly straight forward a couple of parts of it were a pain. I just laid it all out, from right to left, and then checked to make sure I had the same number of connectors an plugs, in comparison to the original harness. I laid it up in the trunk and snaked it through the fasteners and loom all the way up to were it connected to the ribbon connector (on the forward glacis behind the upper potion of the back seat). I started at the passenger rear socket, removed the old socket, plugged in the new one and went along like that till I got to the rear plate and backup lights. The connector for the backup lights was probably the hardest to get connected ad plugged in, I thought I as going to break both my thumbs trying to get it to seat, and just like it kind of "popped" when it disconnected, it did the same pop when it finally seated. The grommet at the floor of the trunk wasn't bad, just a little dielectric grease and it worked right around and in place. The connector for the interior trunk light was easy, just plugged in and was secure. The connection for my interior sail panel lights (courtesy lights)was the same plugged in and was secure. The next was the ribbon and the lead to the fuel gauge. I had the car up on stands, snaked the lead through the floor (the grommet was the worst on due t the angle ad not much room to work but again a little grease and it worked right around and into place. Plugged in the ribbon harness, connected the battery and it was magic, bright lights they all worked as they were deigned to work. All in all it took about an hour, including putting the car on stands and the removal of the back seat. I would definitely buy from them again, and I recommend their harnesses to everyone, a great product. I don't know ho much if any this will help out anyone else, it was a simple easy install, well worth the money and time spent.

    Thanks guys,

    Doug
