Hi, Just bought a 1939 Buick Special 2 door sedan. It was stored in a barn since the 50's, has all original interior, black paint, and running gear. The body is near perfect. It appears that the engine has some lower end troubles. It runs, but has a significant shake at speed. Anyway...we're going to pull the engine and transmission and replace it with modern running gear. The rear axle looks massive and relatively bulletproof, so we were thinking about leaving it as is.
