    Hi,

I have, as some of u know, a 65 Wildcat and 65 Riviera.
But my daily driver is sth. else. It's a German built Opel Commodore Coupe.
As I know the Opel Kadetts, Mantas and GT's were sold in the states as Buick-Opels but the other cars that Opel did build weren't.
There was the Rekord series, with 4 bangers and the Commodore (a luxury version of the Rekord) with more potent 6 cylinder mills. See my hartop Coupe. For us Germans this is our "Muscle Car". In the "GS" Version (see the similarity with Buick) it was offered with chrome wheels, which were similar to the Buick Rallyes, only a bit narower. Guys here (and me today too :Brow: ) like to put on the wider original Buick rims for a tougher look.
Mine is a '67 with a special "GS/E" 2,5 liter Injection Engine from 1970 with 150 real horses. (DIN or netto hp) It makes 120 mph on the Autobahn.
There were also bigger cars that Opel made called Kapitn Admiral and Diplomat, which could be ordered with pretty good 327 Chevys and 400 transmissions. If anyone is interested in more Opel information, then I can write sth. and post some pictures....
Here is my "mini GS" with 'em new rims :3gears:
    Hope u like it.

I had a '59 Opel Rekord. It sort-of looked like a 55 Chevy if you squinted real hard. I had big plans for it until I wrecked it. Not a good car to find parts for!

I'd sure like to see some pictures of what the cars that could be had with the v-8 looked like.

    Hi D-Con.

I also had three of 'em P1 Rekords. These were actually sold in the States...
A pretty cool little car. A buddy of mine, who has a 327 400hp 5speed Rekord/Commodore (1966-1971) like mine (sooo wild! see the picture below. The orange one, called "Duke" plans on building a '58-'60 Rekord Gasser. He has a custom wagon for his shop called "Oldschool Custom Works" www.oldschoolcustoms.de

Here is a Opel Diplomat from the first series (1964-1968). First they came with the 283, then with the 327. It is the ultra rare Coupe Version, with only around 350 made....

Here is a custom version of the second generation (1969-1977)

Ah yes I also have a 55 Chevy Nomad "Gasser Style" that I just bought.
And here two more shots of mine.
The rear light styling is a very little 65 Wildcat don't u think?

:beer "Guitars, Wildcats And Hillbilly Music" I resemble that remark! :TU:
Do you have any pictures of a Manta from '70 thru '72? I had one once and blew up the engine one new years eve :ball: My friend was following me and said I had it on 2 wheels going around a corner. Oops!
I allways think of putting a 215 AL engine into one :beer

Yeah that's it pretty much for me..... but not just Wildcats of course.
And I like both kinds of music, Country and Hillbilly.
2 Wheels is pretty wild man!

Here I have just found old german TV comercials for Opels. The talk is so hilarious. They say it's safe, as they drive like maniacs with that Rekord!
    Good 'ol days!

In England it's pretty common to put those Alu V8s under the hood of a Manta, but also Chevy s.b.'s

    Here is two Manta A....

and my '76 Manta B, which will be converted from automatic 1.6 to 5 speed and 2,4 injection. Maybe a Chevy later, to shock Porsche drivers... *hihi*

That manta B looks an awful lot like a cross between a Vega and a Monza.

I always wanted to V-8 a Manta, I liked the looks of them and of course the GT. The manta always went unnoticed in the US though.

Great commercials, but where are the girls, our car commercials would be full of them. Course it's a well documented fact that an American male, in the presence of an attractive female, loses all capicity for rational thought and might be induced to buy anything!

Pretty nice, for a moment there I was trying to find an Opel dealer on the net, but then I came out of it! I like the one of the driving test, anyone who can drive on two wheels should get a drivers licence. Thanks for the site! :TU:

Yes the Capri. It was the opponent to the Manta/GT.
Pretty nice Cars actually. Tried to buy one the other day, but the condition was far away from the price the owner asked for.... :Dou:
