One week left, that is, 7 days until the start of the Nationals. About this time I'll be trying to sleep seeing as how I wake up at 4:00 A.M. to get ready to go on the 500 mile drive to Bowling Green. Ends up being around 7 hours in the GN there getting 20 MPG. It's the only way to get there fast with class. Quite a few events going on this year, Fastest GN Race, Hecker vs. Zerucha, possibly a new block, and probably more I can't think of.
I beg to differ... IMHO, driving my 70 GS 455 916 miles to BG is THE way to get there Fast with Class. :TU: :3gears:
Both are good choices, but no GS in the family...yet! How is the mileage on the way there? Six days left now.
Uuummmmmmm..... not 20.... I've gotten 14 from a big block car with a 2.93, but this car has a 3.42. Looking for about 12mpg :eek2:
Well,I'll be going to the Nationals and will be driving my GN and getting 30 mpg with the A/C on. Nothing like gas mileage!:TU:
I'm told my drive from Boston to Bowling Green is 18 hours! I just swapped out my 3.64 rear for a 3.08 rear in the Azure Blue GS 455. That should help out a little on the highway. See you boys on Tuesday!
If your GN is only getting 20,something is wrong. When I drove mine to BG it averaged around 25-27 and still went 12.00`s. We`ll see how Gary`s new 04 Chevy does with a 24' box behind it. At the FAST race last week I averaged around 9 with my 24' box behind my dually
Nick, watch out for the gas going across La. and Miss.! Your GS is used to the crappy gas around here. Decent gas is probably worth a tick or two! Go to the thread about the owner of Beech Bend and his neighbor feuding over the track access road. You may end up in between the Hatfields and McCoys! It's on this board, under "Dallas Jones goes to Jail." Good luck and I'm envious!! :3gears:
Actually, my GS lived in LA from 1970 to 1987, so she will be very happy to be home, even for a day. Yeah, I'm curious to see what will be going on on that quaint little road... I'll be looking for a good report on Car Club Bash in my absence!!!! :3gears:
18 hours seems really big for the distance. I don't know much about the location of states but I thought Mass. and Kentucky weren't too far away. Oh wait, I'm thinking about Pennsylvania. Yeah, I guess 18 hours sounds right.
monday morning i will get in the truck for about 12 hours, about 650 miles total, of mostly a twisty hilly I-79 thru WV at about 65-70 mph at about 20 mpg. cant make no time on I-79, be the good lord willing, i'll be at beech bend first thing tuesday morning. i cant wait. henry
Fellow board member Kevin (Wolverine) and I drove down to Henry Whites place so Kevin could pick up Henry's 70 GS 350 car and I thought that ride took forever!!! And Henry is 12 hours from BG ??? OUCH!!!!!
Leaving at 5:00 tomorrow morning. Be there around 12:30 Kentucky time. To everyone leaving today and adter good luck and happy traveling. I'll see you all there.
