stick 225-70-14's on them without worries on a daily driver?

    Anyone done this?

Is wider rim required for increased section width?

Is aspect ratio too low to make tire look out of place?

Not looking to go to 15" Rallyes. Just looking to get some BFG Radial T/A's and this is best fit I can figure out; or maybe not!

    TIA

    Jim,

I have a set of the 14x7 ralleys with 235/60-14's and they seem to be fine, so I'm sure you'll be fine with the 225's.

    tires

225r70x14 will fit fine on 14X6 rims . actually that is the largest size tire that u can run safely on 14x6 rims . that is the bfg radial t/a tire size on my gs .

Jim, this is the size I am currently running on my '70 GS350 (14x6 super sport rallyes) and they work great. I use the car almost everyday, never had a problem with tready layover and the tires don't appear to "balloon" from the rim any more than normal. The aspect ratio looks dead-on to me. Hope this helps.

I ran those for years, but recently switched back to 215-75-14. They worked fine, but they looked too "tall" for me- there is a lot of sidewall staring back at you. Purely a matter of taste (plus I couldn't find 225-70-14 in a whitewall).

If your car was 4-wheel drums, maybe you have 14X5 rims. I think the "drum-only" rims were 14X5. (not the rally wheels)
