Got a chance over the weekend to get my "old school" 455 fired up and broke in on Gary's test stand. Everything went smooth.. Sounds good, cam broke in nice, no leaks, etc.. With all the technology these days, it's still tough to beat the sound of a 107 "window rattler" and a set of MT headers. I'm gonna post links to a couple short videos. The first one is the first fire and break in, the second is the 107 at an 800rpm idle:laugh: ---------- Post added at 01:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:33 PM ---------- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0QLhOP8PeA&feature=player_detailpage http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ettyopFEgLY&feature=player_detailpage
I couldn't get the first video to play, it said it was private. Sounds great on the second video. I can't wait to get my MT S/S headers on my GS! I'm still thinking about a cam change and that 107 sounds nice but probably too radical for my mostly stock 400... First video is working for me now...
A nice flawless breakin and tune, less than 4hrs from removal from Erics truck to back in Erics truck. I forgot how great that 107 with MT's sound and how crisp the throttle response is. This will make for one quick street/strip car. Modern science and computer programs are great but the old school method of dyno tuning on the track then changing combos and specs still has something to respect gary
Amen Gary.. I think with all the fancy stuff available for these Buicks today, people are too quick to replace what they "know" works, with what a computer program says "should" work. I still like the satisfaction of a low buck, simple and dependable 11 second combo. Thanks again:TU:
So Gary ? Did you or didn't you use an extra quart of oil ?!?!?!? o No: The suspense is KILLIN" ME ... glad all went well :TU:
I had it full, primed and ready. 5 quarts of Brad Penn 30wt break in oil, and an 8oz bottle of Crane break in concentrate.
