Thanks to Billy A's weight control centre I have lost over 35 pounds since Jan.4/06.It is not easy. The first 10 pounds are a joke but it gets tougher the further you get down the road.I was 243 now 208.I quit smoking well over a year ago which brought on most of the weight gain.Smoked 38 years-about a pack a day.I must say that the diet is a piece of cake compared to withdrawal from tobacco. The physical element is over in three weeks or so-the mental or psychological part of it all never totally goes away.Thank god it does get easier though.
I figure the ol'Buick should be at least.05 quicker in the quarter now. Got to look at the bright side!!

I thought that Canada is using kilos ?

But 15.8 KG sounds a lot less compared to 35 pounds..... :bglasses:

Women in the Netherlands always talk about pounds (500 gram, not the little 454 gram US pounds) when they're on a diet, only because it sounds like they've lost more weight !

Wow. Doctors scale says 175 pounds!!! I think I hit my goal. My secret? Well here it is.

Home gym/nautilus machine- Theres always a hardly used one for sale in the paper or bargain adds. Get one! I'm approaching six months of a solid routine. Its not that hard. Do sets in between building that engine!

Don't go back for seconds at dinner time. Maybe every once in awhile, but for the most part don't!!!

No eating after diner. Work out about an hour after.

Sweet tooth from hell like me? Get some sipping liquor. (Schnapps, Khalua, etc) Sip a few ounces for about a half hour before you go to bed. You won't chug liquors since they are thick. Thus, you will satisfy your sweet tooth.

Anyhoo....I just wanted to share whats been working great for me. Youns are doing really great :TU:

I can't believe that I missed this thread all this time. :Dou: :Dou: Since it's been a month since anybody posted on it, figured to give it another nudge topward.

I've been steadily losing pounds since mid January simply through greatly reducing red meat and junk food intake. I presently dine on lots of fruit (bananas, whole pineapple not the canned stuff, melons, strawberries etc) and vegetables, such as raw carrots, green peppers, radishes, raw cauliflower etc.

Mix this with tuna, salmon, or chicken and for some variety, I'll blanch some broccoli or cauliflower. I've cut out virtually all junk food, candy, chocolate etc. No soda for me, just lots of water, plus reduced the sugar in my daily cup or two of tea. For an occasional treat, I'll stop by a buddies hotdog cart for a brat or smoky.

As for excrcise, walking more is about all I'm doing, going to get my mountain bike tuned up for summer, and try to design a way to mount it to the back of a Volvo 680 tractor so I can get some riding in during my down time on the road.

Now the one item I don't have is a scale of any sort, so I'm going by how my jeans fit. At Christmas and New Years, I could barely fit a size 44, now they all but fall off unless my belt is cinched up tight. Should be wearing a size 42 real soon. I figure that I've dropped about 35-45 pounds.

I'll get myself a proper scale soon so I can track my progress. I'm in this for the long haul, not going to give up as I'm now 51, stand 5 feet 17 inches ( or 4 feet 29 inches  )and last summer weighed 335 lbs :eek2: That was before my unscheduled 7 week "vacation" from work when I was between jobs, and spending many waking hours filling my face. :spank:

So estimating a starting weight of 350 lbs I should be around 310 or so. My goal weight is 210-220. I'm going to get there by hook or by crook, if it takes me another year or more, I'm going to do it.

Anyone else still reducing their body mass??? Let's get back on track people. :beer

I've started to wonder what happened to this post.I'm at 215 now but started losing again bit by bit.I've cut out the sweets and sodas also and finally got over the plateau.I've lost around 17 lbs. but with all the walking I do it feels like more.Come on everybody...Don't give up yet !!!! Annie,I know you're still doin' this.Where are you at.Something, something minus something pounds?.... :Brow:Stick with it folks...Our cars will get better gas mileage due to reduced weight...More than what Bush is doin' for us !!! :blast:

You know I remember seeing this thread way back. I too started to lose, but never commented on the subject on this thread. My wife always laughed at me how hard I tried to lighten up the racecar, when I should just lose some pounds of my own.

Well the scare came at my physical early January.

    Weight was 207 (I'm only 5'7")
    Cholestrol hit 265,
    HDL (bad one) was 161
    Triglcerides hit a wopping 351.

Dr. wanted me on medication asap. I asked him to give me three months.

Well after eating correctly knocking out ALL fast food, brown bagging it (it saves ya money too). Oatmeal instead of eggs bacon and cheese rolls every morning. Plenty of Salmon and other fish meals, Omega 3 vit's.

End of March results at the Dr.

    Weight down to 187
Cholesteral down to 179 (should be less than 200)
LDL Cholestral (the bad one) down to 123 (should be less than 130
HDL Cholesteral up to 33 (should be greater than 40)
Triglyerides down to 114 (should be less than 150)

Did all than with ZERO exercise as during that 3 month period I was out with a broken right ankle. Now all better and summer coming it should be no problem to shake off a few more.

Up to date now some 3 weeks later, this morning I'm down to 184! A total of 23 pounds in under 4 months. Waist size went from a bloated 38 plus to a tight 34. And I lost two extra chins  Done slowly with entirely new eating habits and most importantly with no medication. Goal is 179 by Norwalk in June.

Now for the proof, hitting the track this Saturday first time this year. We'll see...about 25 pounds lighter. Oh the only thing I still crave is White Castles :ball: Maybe I'll treat myself when I hit that 179 mark.

Was I supposed to be doing something???????? :Dou:

Ok, ok, I'll get that blasted scale out again. I haven't been checking. It has been getting warmer and I'm getting a lot more exercise. I don't think I've lost anything, but I haven't gained otherwise my leg wouldn't fit and I wouldn't be able to walk. I did actually ride a HORSE last week, first time in a year, only the 2nd time since my accident in '03. I have a new horse on the way, smaller and I should be able to ride more and that will help.

I wish I could just cut out stuff like you all do.....but I already don't drink pop, eat chips & candy, fast food, etc. Mostly, I just need to get off the boatanchor that is my backside and move around!

I'll try to remember to check the scale tomorrow morning and report back!

    GOOD JOB EVERYONE!! :TU: :TU:

Heres me last October at a svelte 214, down from 240 the previous winter. It was gradual, but I got there (hey I'm old at 42). My scale was off and I lost more than I actaully needed to, I had to be 220 or less. I did it with lean protein and complex carbs (no sugars, starches, etc). Bad news I'm now 8 lbs heavier than then.

Ok Guys and Gals, I have not posted in a while. Can't get on the net as much at work anymore and the wife is hogging up the computer at home finishing her Masters. I started out a 251 on Jan 1st. My goal was 25 lbs. I am now down to 217. My new goal is to hit 211 so I will have lost 40 lbs!!! 6 lbs to go! My wife did let me get my "Fat Loss" Present early, a new street/strip T350 trans from ATI for the Buick!!!!!!!!!!!! It will handle 500HP so I should have no problems when it comes time to finally finish up the blower kit. You all keep up the good work and lets keep losing. I have not felt this good in years and I still have not gotten around to the exercise part of my diet! Good Luck to everyone :TU: :TU: :TU:

    Anybody still taking pounds off??

Well I figured that maybe some people would like this thread to go poof in the night, but I'll bring it back up.

After going through a rough spell this summer, I'm back on track. Finally have a reliable scale to use, so, it was a nice surprise to see a number not starting with 3. Yesterday, I was at 295, down from 350 a year ago. Still looking for the 210-220 mark, which will likely take me another year or more.

It's taking a long term commitment, plus a willingness to change some long held eating habits to achieve this goal. My aim is to lose 1-3 lbs per week, rather than a sudden big drop (been there, done that, didn't work for me).

I actually had fries last week for the first time in ages, forgot what they tasted like.
