i think i am getting low oil pressure. i am about to hook up an oil pressure guage o make sure. what is this a sign of?
what makes you suspect low oil pressure, exactly? if the pressure is low it's most likely either the a worn oil pump/timing cover or a bottom end problem.
I get this problem too, so I'm eager to see the results. I get the feeling I will be in the market for another engine sooner than I had thought
from idle im getting about 25 to 30. and just driving around or on the freeway, im getting about 50, give or take a few lbs. is this normal?!?!?! just had the engine rebuilt so i have a new oil pump. is there any way to ajust it if it is bad? pete
just rebuilt my 71 350-4. is there an ideal oil pressure setting? already have broken in cam and all. oil pressure reads 45 lbs. i do have an adjustalbe regulater on it. thanx guys.....
10lbs per 1000rpms is the standard I've heard many, many, times from some very trusted sources. You should consider putting in some good guages. Those original lights and sensors are useless.
ya, atleast 10 per thousand. There's a bypass in the pump that just dumps pressure when it exceeds the spring force. Stock is around 40psi. Upgrade springs can be used to increase it...
That pressure sounds good to me. I've only got 700 miles since i rebuilt mine and it holds about 15 at a hot idle, and about 70 at highway speeds.
