No need to drill any hole...there is one there already! Look behind the filter, you should see a sending unit there, just take that out and thread the adapter that comes with the gauge kit and hook the line up.......
You don't have to drain the oil.....

    Patrick,
You do not have to drain the oil. The hole you are looking for is on the passenger side of the block, adjacent to the timing cover, and above the oil filter. There should be a sending unit screwed into it, with one wire coming from it. If you are installing an electrical gauge, just replace the sending unit with the one for your gauge, and run a new wire to your new gauge. You can also use a brass fitting tee to run both your gauge and light, or both gauges. If it is a mechanical gauge, make sure you get copper line to route into the passenger compartment. Do not use the plastic line that is supplied with the gauge. Over time, it can become brittle, and is an accident waiting to happen, IMHO.

Patrick - Getting the paper is not a license to do anything you want. It is very tempting to play, but it is also the quickest way to lose the license, or worse! Please be responsibile and get some experience before hitting that throttle! These cars are fast, and can bite you if not careful! The track is the best place to play!
