I just bought a "t" fitting and threaded pipe kit and 6' of copper tubing with fittings for my engine- I want to run the idiot light and the aftermarket gauge. Anyone done this? I assume you have...very straightforward in principle, but anybody have any insight on this and any problems I'm overlooking? My first and foremost concern is of course leakage. I have the adjustable pressure regulator from TA as well. My finger doesn't really work at all yet, but I am so desperate to do some engine work of some kind that I don't much give a flyin monkey :moonu: about one finger that doesn't do as it's told:laugh: Now if it will just stop raining 5 days out of 7 I might get something done...

Chris I am running the idiot light and a gauge. Don't remember exactly how it's teed off but I'll take a look. I've never had any problems with it.

Chris, I'm sure I've got a picture of my setup somewhere at home. I'll try to get to it tonight. I have (3) things connected there:

    1. oil pressure gauge, 1/8 copper tubing
    2. factory idiot light sensor
    3. oil pressure safty switch for the electric fuel pump

It does stick out about 5"-6" but works fine with no leaks.

    Thanks! eagerly awaiting the pics:TU:
I don't care if it sticks out a bit, the kit I bought will stick out about 2" or so. I'm figuring I'll put the idiot light sensor on the bottom, since every one I've ever had leaked within 6 months, and the gauge tubing on top so I'll have as few tight bends as possible in the tubing.

next is a hard steel fuel line with less ugly bends, lol

    Chris,
If you want to run three sensors then you'll need a Cross fitting, not a Tee.
I've got the tee setup, running the idiot light switch and my mech oil pressure guage, I used a 1 1/2" long "1/8 pipe nipple, and the 1/8" pipe tee. The idiot light switch screwed right in an my guage setup came with the proper bushing for the pressure line.

Thanks, Len. I have a mechanical fuel pump, so I don't need the safety switch. I'm just going to run the light and a mechanical oil pressure gauge. the kit I bought seemed to come with just the threaded pipe and the junction block that has one threaded hole for the pipe, and two for the outlets. The tubing kit has a variety of fittings, so I should be set- should be, but you know how these 'simple' things can go sometimes!

Here's that picture. To the far right is the factory idiot light senser, next the oil pressure gauge line (rubber windshield wiper tubing installed over it for protection) and the oil pressure safety switch on the end (for the electric fuel pump).

Chris I have done this. If you do a search I'm sure you'll find the post where I said how I did it. If you haven't done it yet by Saturday, you can see it first hand at the picnic. I used plumbers tape on all the connections and it hasn't leaked one drop from what I can see.

Wish I was going to the picnic...Just a little too far away, for me. I drove up past that way on my way home from Norfolk, VA a few months ago...I'm sure it would be a more pleasant ride this time around, but it was a looooooong trip and I just don't have the income for a place to stay overnight when I get tired.:( But thanks for the offer, Zach.

That looks pretty good, Craig. I think I might try the wiper hose trick. if it doesn't rain today, I'm going to get this thing together, I think.
