hi guys. I posted this in the small block section also as this is a 215 engine.

Im building myself a bike and Im having issues with the oil pump/filter unit.

I want to get rid of the oil filter alltogether and use magnets and block screens to collect debris.
(yes magnets dont collect bearing shavings I know)
is there any way I can do this? Can I use an oil filter take-off adapter plate, open between the ports and just plug the threads?

    Now that is one PROJECT!
Have you thought about using a remote mount filter to put it wherever you want? What about using a remote mount pump and then mod the timing cover in a mill and then use a remote filter? I'm thinking your engine will like you more if the oil is filtered completely and return you with many many miles of scarey performance.

    pump end cover

You could use a block like this plug the inlet and outlet fittings , retain the regulator and loop the high pressure side in the block , it would be shorter than the stock pump cover with a remote adapter ? looks like you need the space ?

Damn. I'd be afraid to ride that - not that I'd refuse.

thanks for the pictures Dave this is something i could use. This looks like a custom piece.. I have to take a closer look at what the oil is doing in there so I can fabricate something like that. I could make the oil pressure valve adjustable and have a p-gauge fitting aswell.

umm, how are you going to get from the crank to the rear wheel?

that thing looks like it's going to be a pretty fair stretch to get your left leg over the chain(?) as it sits and you don't even have any kind of trans or gear set on it yet. i can't imagine trying to configure that thing as a shaft drive unless you were going to ride it side saddle.

hi Bob. I use a harley based transmission. but have to use a jackshaft behind the engine becouse of the width of the motor. the jackshaft rests in a bearing machined in the hole where the starter used to be. there is no flywheel or front pulley on the crank as the transmission has its own starter and alternator integrated behind its clutch mechanism. I sit quite comfortably behind the motor,,,,,,atleast when its not running hot

so the drive is: chain from crank to jackshaft, belt from jackshaft to clutch and chain from transmission to rear rim. :TU:

Shifting is done by right hand and clutch is on standard issue left hand :3gears: just like that but theres only one tire mark and i cant hit the throttle until my hand is back on the handlebar

Wow, that is scary just looking at it.

And I have an answer to your question.

the Rover oil pump cover should fit on the 215 oil pump, and instead of the filter connection, it has an inlet/outlet on there. If you don't want a filter, just put a loop between the two fittings, or you can use a remote filter or oil cooler.
