Oil leak driving me crazy

I reinstalled my 455 after a rebuild only to find it was leaking oil from the front of the engine. I installed a ta balancer seal and applied silicon to oil pan gasket where the block meets the front cover. I assumed the oil pan gasket was leaking so I pulled the engine, and replaced the gasket, but the ta balancer seal looked ok so I reused it. After reinstalling the engine I noticed that it still leaks from the front as before. Every thing is covered in oil so I cannot tell if the balancer seal or the oil pan gasket is leaking. Has anyone had a problem with the ta balancer seal leaking?
Can the front cover be removed and resealed with engine in the car, without removing the oil pan?( I am tired of pulling my engine to fix oil leaks)

I have had my cover off in the car to change cams. The timing cover gasket set I got came with the front part of the pan gasket also. It is a pain in the butt to do but easier than pulling the motor. Just a thought, I always put a very small amount of sealer on the inside of the balancer where it slides on the crank to eliminate the possibility of oil seeping out of the keyway. I had a leak in the front with the stock balancer but when I went to the BHJ balancer that don't have the little groves where the seal runs like the stock one my leak went away. Now if only I can get the rear seal to stop leaking. Tom W

You can pull the front cover without pulling the pan. You may half to loosen the first two pan bolts on each side. On the oil leak. Did you put the slinger back on? Check the cover for cracks around the crank opening. Clean it off real good and pour window cleaner in wear the seal goes. Look to see if any comes out the front. Do this when the cover is out. I chased a oil leak only to find the cover was cracked.

Before you tear the whole engine apart, have you checked the oil pressure sending unit? A defective sending unit can puke out plenty of oil.

I got my 455 core from the junkyard and it had no oil slinger, do I need to get one? I have a mechanical gauge so I do not think the oil is coming from there. Thanks for the help.
