Ted and others, my apologies. I should know better than to post while in a foul mood. Maybe the plus side is that it inspired me to look for newer info.

I sure could have presented it in a more positive manner though, no doubt!

Another thread on the subject. I found a guy with all sorts of info relating to motorcycle filters that is fairly recent. The link is on the second page.

I think the youtube.com videos where the guy cut all those filters apart are all a couple of years old now.

There are a LOT of people that are fond of the System-1 filter but I agree with the motorcycle guy that feels the particle size the screen type filters lets pass is a bit too large.

    regards

Same thing happened to me a few years ago in a freshly built olds 455 engine, had just did an oil change and 3 days later i start car to go work and oil pressure is very low and when you give it gas it dropped to almost nothing, I was thinking it was a problem with the gage but then something told me do not drive it so i borrowed a car to get to work and after work I bought another oil filter this time from NAPA and the pressure came right back. The bad filter was a fram with the orange canister. My engine builder told me to use frams but this was back in the early 90's, never had a problem till that day, will never touch a fram now ever again. Do they not see they are losing money from people not buying their filters, oops shouldnt say that, I got tons of cars in the shop for oil changes and guess what they often have, yup, a fram.

I've used Fram filters for years, and even the current ones haven't given me trouble. '68 Buick, '70 Chevy truck BBC, Astro Van, '70 Dodge 318, '05 Toyota Corolla commuter car. Never a problem. But then, I change my oil on a decent interval. I suspect that the failures are linked to old engines with few changes, high viscosity oil and cold starts, etc., which can give any filter fits.

Well with that all said, here's my story:

I used filters from work (I got them free) the trouble was they were so cheap my oil presure would die after 100 miles or so, the filter was so sh%^y I had to change it inorder to get oil presure back.

I have used NAPA Gold Filters for the last 40 or so years now since.
