Hi all, and sorry for the stupid question, just looking for confirmation: Oil capacity with filter change is 5qt for a 350, right?

I suspect there's something off with my dipstick setup; it's showing about six quarts over full. Car is a 67 Skylark, engine is (assumed) a 1969 350. I don't have any swap history or details on this.

The tube is basically even with the exhaust manifold. The stick is about 18.5" long. Oil level is at the "I" in Oil on the stick.

    Any help, much appreciated.

Yes, you are correct. 5 quarts with a filter change.

You probably have the wrong stick, but scribe a line on the one you have now so you know where ‘Full’ is.

Mine as well. If you look at the dipstick tube that you have, the end should have an enlarged diameter for another tube to fit into

Thanks gang, that totally explains it. You can even see the larger diameter end of the existing tube.

Sounds like you might want to do a parts wanted add to see if anyone has the top half of the dipstick tube that you need? GL
