More than two months ago I purchased an AC Delco thermal clutch fan + a new fan for same. I installed it almost a month ago as the motor was out of my GS.
Well it failed to function, not because it was defective but probably because the fan was 5 inches from the radiator (s/b two inches) and the thermostat is 185*. No problem on the highway because of the speed I drive. I let the car sit in my driveway for about 10 minutes after a highway & city run. The temp gauge read about 215. Fan clutch did not lock up but freewheeled. Using a laser type temp reader, the temp at the clutch did not reach 100*f at & near the clutch, front or back.
I removed the like-new thermal fan clutch + fan and reinstalled my repainted 7 blade flex fan (#330533) from a 1980 Camaro that a friend gave me 15 years ago.
I will try to sell the hardware it. I guess, eventhough I spent a lot of money Cdn$$, I learned a lesson - research, research...
