I'm gonna take my block, heads, and crank to the machine shop next week, and was wondering what I should get done. I'm using 10.25 pistons, TA 413 cam, 1.92 & 1.55 valves, TA intake, TA headers, etc. The things that I'm definitely having done are

    -boring the block .030"
    -turning the crank .010"/.010"
    -enlargening the valves to 1.92"/1.55"
    -installing grooved cam bearings

I would like to deck the block (is that the correct terminology?), and do some head work. How far should I go with each of these? If there's any other things I should consider, please let me know. thanks,

What year block are you using? Also what final compression ratio are you shooting for? I used a 72 bolck and decked it .020 which left the piston .035 down in the hole. My final ratio is 10.1/1. Are you going to be using this engine as a race only engine? That cam seems a bit to big for the street.

The block is a '71, and I'm not really sure what compression I want. I guess whatever is the highest, but is still a safe number to aquire. As far as the cam goes, I know it's a big cam. The motor isn't for racing only, but it's not for normal commuting either. I just want a bad ass street machine.

If you want the engine to live a long life you should have the block allign honed. As far as the cam goes I don't know if you will have enough vacume to run pwr. breaks. You may want to check into that.
