Mike G and his guys did the bodywork(edit...and full interior). I built the motor and rearend. A buddy did my trans. I had already done the disc brake swap and front suspension and steering. From start to finish, the frame-off took about 9 months. I've owned the car since 1989, so my avg cost per year since I've owned it isn't bad. Lol

A man's got to know his limitations. For this car, for me, it was the bodywork.

Yours has come a long way.

I can appreciate that Jim! Problem is I work alone in "isolation" LOL, and being an old cripple only manage to squeeze in about 6-8 hours per day. I had to take a half day off today to clean up last years hosta stalks. Theyre starting to pop now!

I remember that stuff from somewhere! Not even the Wizards for 3 months? Im OK with that pal... Still have the insides, bumpers, trim and lights to do. Plenty, plenty, PLEN-T !! I have to do a grocery run tomorrow. ws

STAGE III Lost Experimental 455-4 Bolt Main Block.

That’s why u never ask Fritzenrustin to help you find an air cleaner lol

I’d be happy to own that if the guy has a reserve price that reflects its condition (about 50 bucks! Lol)

Sorry guys, just wrote EIGHT full chapters of Mein Kampf and went to take "A" picture and the GD battery was DOA. That was a fresh one this morning. So as Im coming in, halfway down the driveway I hear Pat watching sister wifes. The fact that she's deaf and had the thing BLARING, caused chapter nine to open up. Its a show about some impotent snickerdoodle mormon with 6 wifes. Probably 40 kids and all they do is piss, moan, cry, want etc etc. JHC, they own 6 houses in vegas and all drive new cars and only one wife is legal; that makes all the other kids bastards. Yeah, the virus hit the wrong household. ws

AH HA!! Chinabattery shouldve started a fire on the charger, but curses! Foiled again. Anyways, went back out for a few shots, (shouldve been rye !) but was just camera shots LOL. The tertiary buff is just about done, with a few minor spots to blend in, and a strip on the roof. I called the game for rain. Plenty of time to finish it up later. Once its done, Ill pull it out (!!) and hose it down before the trim and stuff goes back on. The dust is really charged with static, and all I'm doing is moving it around. It needs water to get it off the car. Otherwise job is "Fair ++". ws

Can't wait to see it all cleaned up with trim on it outside in the sunlight. That thing is gonna shine!

Well Jim... shaded sunlight is as far as it got so far. Pat gave me a hand setting the hood on, and she was amazed at what 10 bolts would do for adjusting it. It still needs some fender adjusting, and maybe some hinge hole enlarging. We quit for the day. Ol' gal had 21 botox shots in her neck for headaches today, THEN she came out and helped!

So before this, I told her about an hour and I'd need her. I was putting the cowl back on and had to tear the garage apart looking for it. SWORE to G that it was rolled up and had blue masking tape around it. Not quite. It was stored flat where I'd looked 20 time for it; BAMM, there it was. So its on, down and tight, and the fender needs to come up and the hood needs to go down. The trick is the fender to door clearance. Right now with the dorr 1/2 way open, you can just slide a dollar bill between the two. At least now with the hood on, I can gage where all the joints need to land. This job can be done sitting on a bucket instead of being a friggin' jack in the box LOL... ws

Bill, I'm not a real body guy, but I think that last pic is a core support, or core support shim thing. You can't adjust the cowl vent panel, not really.

That was my thought too Frank. The CS parts are all OEM. The only thing that bothers me is the cowl is down tight, and the door trim reveal line is pretty close. That means I would have to stretch the fender up 3/8" and thats a long way to go.

The door hinges are good; hopefully they wont need to be raised. Ive never had them off, God help me! The gap at the handle end is good, altho a 1/32" multiplies all over the place! Ten feet up to the CS can easily become 1/2".

Ill get it one way or another especially with the bumpers off the car right now.
Any other exspurts are welcomed to join in on this. If ya have a secret up yer sleeve, show me your tats'... ws

Adjusting the hood height should be described in the Fisher body manual. I sorta recall it being backwards... you move something up to make the hood go down. I can look it up in the next few days if no one else answers...

Thanks for that Walt! Please see PM across the hall too! Upon a cursory look this morning ( I was cursin' LOL) I think I am gonna lift the cowl vent off and see whats under that. Ive had it on and off a few times but think something moved; maybe those foam blocks? Its hard as a rock and tight, but still lifted that lousy 1/4"! ws

Bill, the foam blocks are to channel cold air into the vent when open, not outside or engine heat. You really can't move that vent panel up or down much at all. My $ are still on the core support bushing or shim. Because from your measurements you can tell the fender is like drooping.

Adjusting hood hinges always seems to puzzle many people who don't do it very often. The springs have a dual purpose, not only to hold the hood up when you raise it but also to suck it down in the back when you close it. To tell someone whose hood is sticking up in the back to raise the rear of the hinge always bring on a look of, "Have you lost your mind?" My response is usually, "Nope, just try it, it's free. Nothing to lose." Those springs have to allow the hinges to go over-center to suck it down in the rear.

Thats an interesting concept Bill... Not that I think of that, when Pat was helping me the other day, the hinges were collapsed (down) and the hood sat below the fender; Hmmm. As of now the hinges and fender bolts are bottomed out and it could still use another < 3/16 down. Hmm 2x. With the hood resting on some padding, and Pat lifting, I could just get my fat arm in there to catch a longer bolt to manage the position. Once the 2" long bolts were in, she raised the hood and I got the four 3/4" long bolts in there. Tightened up, the hood raised up... Im running outa hmm's (LOL) but with what Walt sent me, I did shim the front holes about .200" (.180" max per the book and it helped immensely. A single 3/32 shim raised the fender to help match the cowl. Just some fine tuning now. I was pretty GD frustrated yesterday. I (we) have all had a ton of hoods on and off and Ive never had to shim the hood to hinge fit.

Im heading in for the day, and with fresh meatus tomorrow will have a strategy to follow. Pics later from inside. Thanks guys! ws
