I wanted to see if any of you guys know what the size of the stock in dash speaker is used for the 70 Skylark/GS? We bench tested the stock AM radio and fortunately it works, but the speaker is not working.

Also does anyone know of a reliable rebuilder for the 8 track units?

I just got the replacement speaker- thanks Doo Wop! Does anyone know how to remove the dash speaker. The 1970 Buick Repair manual states to go up through the radio slot, but it is not that simple! Access looks like it is behind the center AC vent, which we are afraid we will break if we try to get out. Does the dash have to come off? HOPEFULLY NOT...Any help would be appreciated!

I removed my dash pad and center AC duct to gain access.

Yes, as someone else stated in an earlier post, I found that we needed to remove the dash pad. Be careful when you do this if you never did it before- you can easily scratch the paint on the dash- matching it is difficult and the clips can break!

Yup, been there done that. Now if it was a non AC car, you could of just taken out the glove box liner to swap the speaker
