I've been going over my wiring harensses in preperation for assembly someday (some year?).... Anyway, on my convertible top harness there is an odd setup for the power feed/switch harness. There is a red connector with a 12 gauge orange wire, this connector slides into the back of another red connector which also had a 12 gauge orange feed wire on it...this last conncotr plugs into the terminal beside the CB. The odd part is, both these orange wires run about 10-12" into the harness and then connect together with a factory splice, following on as one orange 12 gauge wire for the remainder of the harness. I cannot figure out what the purpose of this setup might be. Why not run a single wire?? I could see it being used as a splitter but the two wires connect together!! o No: later Tim
Tim, This is the power top wiring diagram out of a 72 chassis manual. Does it shed any light on your question?
Hi Larry, thanks for the pic but it doesn't really show the harness itself.....I have attached a picture of what I am talking about, notice the two orange wires that feed into one wire the same gauge...I don't understand why they would do this? later Tim
Thats what I thought but it still seems odd.....why not just use a splitter like all the other cars I have seen....? later Tim
