"It Got..." several time in the ad tells me all I need to know. I wonder if the door panels still say "GS" on them. A lot of work to make a mongrel car that neither a Buick guy or a Chevy guy would feel real comfortable owning. Dude! You made something no one really wants- some kind of weird half breed. Those look like Buick quarter extension hanging out and looking odd over the Chevelle rear bumper. The whole side looks Chevelle, including the rear quarters (he states front clip and doors only). Maybe the original Buick rear quarters were mudded and reshaped to Chevelle lines (a lot of work). The stolen Chevelle with a Buick Vin scenario seems like a good possibility.

Waste of a good Buick (maybe) (and some good Chevy parts, in all fairness), although Skyvelle is a pretty cool name.... :Dou:

He did say "it got" Chevelle quarters:Brow: One more reason to clone more Elcaminos into Skyminos!!!!!!! At least he can think outside of the box and request a Goldwing in trade and not a Harley. Not that there is anything wrong with a Harley :) or a nice Chevelle, except everyone has one. LOL

Well you're right Mark, but a chevelle convertible being hard to find is like a 69 Camaro being hard to find.
They are hard to find because they are expensive and held onto in collections.
Now a 69 firebird is easier to find, so they get made into a chevy.
To me, a firebird is the more rare and interesting car.

Not my money though. To each their own but it is a shame to see a nice car made into something that it's not.
The world is out one actual Skylark convertible and there are still the same number of chevelle's out there.

I'm guessing the car was rotten to heck and it was far easier to find Chevelle panels then Skylark panels. We had to ship a header panel and fender from across the country to keep an Omega from becoming a Nova.

If you need quarters, doors, fenders, and other misc parts to restore a car and all you have is classic industries, year one, and summit then your car will either become a chevy or a ford. There's no way to really get around it.

Hmmm, you're right. I guess one the It Got's got past me! Might as well have found the biggest junker rotted out Chevelle 'vert on the planet and swapped the VIN and cowl tag. Then it got everything and IS a Chevelle (sorta).

If anyone finds themselves with the urge to do this to their Skylark, I have a VIN and trim tag from a `70 Chevelle SS396, 4 speed, red with a tan interior that I parted out 20 or more years ago :eek2:

What's he gonna pull his house around with after he trades the Skyvelle?

It got to be hard pull it with a Goldwing...

Somebody email him a trade offer he can't refuse.

I got a Goldwing. It got a rip in the seat from my skinin knife. It got a bent handle bar from when it got heavy on me. It got to running bad when I put diesel fuel in it. It got no title from when it got repossessed. It got no keys cause the I left them at the clinic. It got two flat tires from those mean fellas at the bar. It got a bent fender from my ex-wife backing over it. It got graffiti on it so it got a fresh coat of Krylon red paint. It got a Harley Davidson Saddle bag. It got a 6 pack of Bud in the bag. I got to go get it.

Heres my take on this. The guy has a rusty Buick convertable. He starts to look for parts. HNN no repo quarters, coupe quarters are how much? and no inner rear wheel housings? NOS fenders are how much? No repo fenders?
Now he picks up a Goodmark catalog and sees that he can buy a core support, fenders, convert quarters, doors, dash pad, guage panel, bumpers inner front and rear panels. And the price is about the cost of a set of NOS GS coupe quarters and a set of NOS fenders. If he had the ability to do his bodywork he probably saved 1/2 the cost of a Buick resto.
Now that said he should have just bought a chevelle and used the top assy from the Buick to make it a convert. A local guy has been making 1970 Monte converts for yeqars. A good friend made a 70 Gran Prix into a convert triple black and you cannot tell that my old cutlass was now living on after donating the top assy windshield and quarter tops.
I am not interested in it nut if I were after hearing that story I would have to investigate.
