I saw this car on ebay as well - you are right, with a 455 shoe horned into the engine bay it must smoke the tires with no problem!

Ok, so seller has responded-and I quote "it was a special made product for the year".....I hope somebody isn't about to school me on the one and only SD455 GSX.....I asked that he provide anything he could to support his claim that this is in some way an original Buick offering. Somebody please tell me I'm not losing my mind here! :)

The Seller's idiocracy aside, I bet those Apollos flat scoot with big block power. What other power-to-weight ratio combo can compare? A Monza/Skyhawk w/ a 350?

Did they come with a 350? Or just a 305?

The base V8 for the 1975 Apollo was an Oldsmobile 260 CI V8, but the 350 (2 and 4 barrel) was optional.

If (big if) that is really a super duty Pontiac the motor is worth more than the car.

    This was the question:

Another case of blatant misrepresentation. It's amazing what people try to get away with. Better hope the new owner doesn't check that "matching numbers" VIN stamp. BTW, the "H" in position five of the VIN denotes 350-2.

According to the VIN, the H designates a 350 with 2bbl carb.

Seller ended the auction. Must have been all the messages he got from the Buick and Pontiac communities. Hopefully it saved a potential buyer some heartache...

Or, the kid (Seller) just learned a new word ... liability.

I know the Chev. Vega and Monzas could be ordered w/ SBC V8 power. Don't know about the Buick variants, but these cars where really just badged-engineered cars ... like a Chev. with the "Buick trim option". I know SBC 350's basically bolt in to these cars very easily ... wouldn't seem to be much difference between a Vega GT w/ a healthy SBC 350 and the same engine in a riding lawn mower. Maybe 3 seats difference.

I remember a kid in highschool who had a Monza w/ a 260 V8 ... of course, to a 16 yr old, that was faaaaassssstttttt[(er) than a bicycle]. Good times.

Never the Vega, just the Monza. As a teenager I tried replacing a v-6 in a Skyhawk with a 300-4 :spank: With a little more experience I probably could have made it fit.

Looks like he sold it to another local dealer and they relisted for $3k more than the original auction. No mention that the 455 is pontiac engine.
