A special THANK YOU!!! :beer goes to Chris Pollak for all his help in helping me find my newest addition to my collection, a red 1971 GSX clone with a 455 and console automatic. :TU: I am still doing more research on the car and will report what I find at a later date. It's a good start and a welcome addition, as I add a Buick to my mini collection. I purchased the car from a gentleman in Greenville, South Carolina (24 hr. round trip to pick it up this weekend), but it was from the Jacksonville, Florida area prior to that. If anyone might have information on this car, I would appreciate hearing from you.
I am in need of some replacement parts to start tweeking it, so check out my thread under "parts wanted"---'71 GS interior parts wanted.

Thanks guys. As soon as I can figure out how to post photos (I am computer illiterate), I will do so. My wife took about 60 shots of it yesterday, but they might be too big to post here. It is an older restoration with a fresh motor and trans. Now I just need to start with the replacing and correcting of the things I found wrong with it.

And a minor add on to my original message: Many folks on the board here do not know Chris by his real name, but rather by his sign on, which is cjp69. Without him, I would not be the owner of this car. His undaunted pursuit of a GS that matched up with what I was looking for took me to South Carolina. As I am new to Buicks, his guidance has also been much appreciated.
As I get further into the checking out of this car, it seems to be getting better and better. Who knows what I might finally find as far as numbers matching, but as it is right now makes me a happy guy. And even better...the wife likes it too!

Sounds like a nice car! Im looking forward to seeing the pics.

ah, we all know Chris by his first name. Longtime member and a hell of a nice guy. It always amazes me how he has a line on almost every Buick for sale in the country. And he can remember cars that were for sale from years ago. Memory like an elephant.

Congrats on your purchase. 24 hour round trip! uuugh. Go get some sleep!

You could open a Photobucket account and just post the link to it. Might be easier. As far as Chris is concerned.. I can't say enough good stuff about him. I know him from my Buick club, and he is one amazing guy!! He's got some great looking Buicks as well. Just an overall fantastic person!! :TU:

    Chris---
You probably have to have the Kodak software loaded into your computer to open it up? Don't quote me on that, I'm computer illiterate.
    Matt---
Yes, that was my experiment photo, a side view of the car.
I am going to try to load photobucket with a lot of photos of the car later. Hopefully all will be able to see them then. If I could figure out how to just get a few of the photos from my computer onto one of these posts, I would do that. But, see my remark about my computer skills to Chris above.:(

Okay, I'm going to try a different route to get photos on here. It looks like this will work......
I understand that this car was a topic of discussion on this board in 4/07. This was before I purchased it recently. Right after that time, it was sold to a gentleman in Jacksonville, Florida.
Jim Lore, or anyone else that might know more about the history of this car, please PM me so I can try to find out more details on what I bought.
    Thanks, Bruce

Well, here's some more of what I have found. I now believe that this car started its life as a '71 GS350 in Sandpiper Beige with a Sandlewood bench seat, column shift interior with air.
The car now has a '72 455 rebuilt less than 1000 miles ago with a Stage 1 cam. Wish they had rebuilt it as a '70 Stage 1. I doubt they put Stage 1 heads on. But it runs good and that cam sounds good. The turbo 400 was also rebuilt at the same time the motor was. New seals were also installed in the rear. The rear was supposed to be a posi, but either it isn't or it needs repair. 'Cause when you nail it, only one tire spins. That will be fixed promptly. It rides and handles as I would expect from a Buick.
The body and interior have needs. The cloning of the GSX is not perfect and is showing some of its age. The paint is holding up okay. The worst part is that body parts need to be realigned a bit, but is usable as is. Bumpers are passable with some hazing in the usual spots. I would say that it is a strong 20 footer. The interior needs door panels, front and rear, along with some other assorted componets. Seats, dash and carpet are good. Most everything works as it is supossed to.
So that being said, I am going to put this car together as a driver. It will be a neat ride that will perform like a Buick GS should and I will not be afraid to take it anywhere. It might not be the best looking car in the lot, but it will certainly attract attention.
    Bruce
