...but my daughter Caitlin needs some support. Longs story short version...We live in AZ and the US Luge (feet first sledding on ice) team came and gave a clinic last September. Sleds were on rollers. They evaluated 800 children in several cities across the US this year and 40 were chosen to come to lake Placid to "take the next step." Caitlin, who just turned 12, was chosen! She was one of 40. Quite an honor.

Today was the first day and it was rough on her. She made poor choices regarding what to wear and was freezing and nervous at the track. It was 5 degrees on the mountain and she did not wear long johns, forgot her gloves, wore only one shirt inder her coat, etc. I gave her my gloves...She made 2 of 4 possible runs and was near tears most of the time. Part of the eval is maturity, self sufficiency and good decision making...not just sledding. I basically dropped her off at camp and I can observe, but that's it. She had a tough time. I tried to console and encourage without stepping over the line on being an overeager parent. It was tough. It was not an enjoyable experience for her like I hoped. Tomorrow is another day and I hope she rebounds. Appreciate the support even though I[ve turned into a casual lurker here.

Please pray that she'll mkae good decisions.

Praise God for this incredible opportunity and experience!!

If many of you are like me, you read this forum, pray, but do not post. I appreciate the prayers. She had a slightly better day two, but today was fantastic. Confidence is back and she's shining again. It also helps the Dad unit feel better. Sitting at breakfast before day two I was sick to my stomach and forced some food down...but not too much. Today was much better and I'm looking forward to a stellar day 4.

    Thanks for the support.

I hope Caitlin had a great time after her rough start at camp. What a wonderful opportunity, she's a lucky girl to have been chosen.
