Thats my question, as unsafe as it is, was there a seatbelt for the middle postion on notchback bench cars? I discovered i do not have one for my 72 ragtop with the small black buckles/blue inserts. Can someone measure the length of them perhaps? Thanks Tim
tim: i can tell u that the later models with notchback seat had the middle seat belt. since u could place 3 people in the front seat, it stands to reason that u had to have the belt.
Well thats what i thought too, but that little armrest can't give much support to the backside on a 455 powered car!!LOL Guess I need another part now.. Later Tim
Yes,there is a pair of belts for the middle on a strato bench seat car. My Stage 1 has that type of seat configuration and the middle belt is the same length as the passenger side belt. As funny as it may seem, the middle armrest does some of the support and then the two edges of the seats(driver's and passenger's seats) makes up the rest.
Carl, you say the belt is the same length so I am assuming you mean for the side with the buckle? Thinsg are a bit messed up as I set my belts up the way I wanted them, rather than being totally correct. I have retractors on each side of the bench which lock. The buckles are on quite short belts, the retractors reach in and set the length. I did this as the ragtop has the shoulder belts originally, so those will just clip into he notch on the retractor (male) side. Belts are all set up so not changing now. I know the ragtops are supposed to be opposite to the hardtops, but thats fine with me. I prefer them this way. Is the center belt setup roughly the same as the back seat center belt setup?? I have an extra one of those.... later Tim
Tim, both the driver's and passenger side belts have short belts in the center and the buckles are small. The center belts have the same buckles as the back seat belts and are the same length. So yes,you can use a pair of center back seat belts for the front center.
YAAAAA!! Now I feel better. My rear seatbelts are on retractors as well, with the small buckles for the entire car. I am happy.... Thanks Tim
