That's cheaper compared to renting a car while on vacation in the States. What are the rules if I come over for a vacation, buy a car like this to use during that vacation and ship it to Europe in the end? Is there always a licenseplate with a car, or is a plate related to a person and do you have to take the plate off to use on your new car when selling? Can I use an American insurance company when I'm not living in North America? What kind of paperwork do I need to register a car? And where's the place to do this? (Postoffice like we do here?)
Maybe you can get a temporary in transit plate from Illinois I think they are only good 30 days that might be an option - I know they have that in NY here's the link to Illinois DMV http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/services/services_motorists.html
Talk about a cheap wagon, here's one for you to check out.....http://cgi.msn.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=16124&item=2452387136 It's a pretty cool wagon, but needs lots of body work........ It's a buick wagon though:TU:
Erik you would have to go to the Illinois drivers license place and bring the title and purchace a temporary paper plate for transit . :TU: :3gears:
Thanks for the answers Greg, Chris and Bruce (or was it Shirl this time?) If I'm taking this route to ship a car to Europe, i think I'll stay down south, states like Texas or Arizona. I supose each state has it's own DMV with all the info I need?
