Was looking thru here and there is a few awesome looking storm clouds. The link puts you to the Northern lights then just websurf the rest!! http://www.extremeinstability.com/04-11-8.htm
I didn't know anyone else here was interested in astronomy! :bglasses: I got a Digital Telescope for Christmas, last year, and have been studying the skies frequently. I missed the Northern Lights, but I have seen this year: Lunar Eclipse Jupiter, and 4 of it's orbiting Moons Saturn, and the Cloud Rings 2 Meteor Showers Looking at the Moon, with no clouds, is Fascinating! I could almost watch that constantly. I use the most powerful optics, and can see the Craters, adn even the Mountains on the Moon! :eek2: Thanks for sharing, Mike! :beer
There is so much light pollution here in NJ when we go outside you can barely see a dozen stars in the sky. I keep telling the kids that they can't imagine how beautiful the night sky is when it's full of stars.
I've yet to see Northern Lights. I've seen some meteor showers and solar and luner eclipses, but never the lights. Won't see them here in Ohio, everyone else saw them up in western NY but that was before I was born. One of these days...
Northern Lights I thought I would be able to see the lights once I moved to Minneapolis, but it's been cloudy here every time they predict a good show. I've thought about just driving north some clear night till I finally saw them.
I've always been interested in the heavens. Back in the day I'd spend a couple nights a week outside with my telescope, I was lucky because both Jupiter and Saturn were out in the early evening. I've also gotten up once at like 2am and sat outside in the frigid cold for an hour to watch a meteor shower. Last year around late October some people here in central PA said they saw the northern lights, but I didn't. I have take a vacation to the far north some day.
The northern lights were absolutely awesome here in Southwest OH/Southeast IN two Sundays ago. Green curtain all of way the across the north, with quickly moving white lines extending out to the south. First time I've seen that combo in person. I've seen the blotchy red spots many times, and the green curtain without the lines. It gets very dark where I live, and if it weren't for Dayton and Cincinnati, it would get totally dark at night.
Guess we're luckier up here in the Great White North  Some nights, I just look out my front window and watch the show :TU:
This is shot I got from our telescope a couple years ago with my older Kodak digital DC4800 ....... this was the lowest power lense I had.
