I think we all can agree, Democrats, Republicans, heck even the Green Party, that one bad thing about Bush winning is:

We have to suffer through four more years of the moron who impersonates him on Saturday Night Live. I mean, the guy is painful to watch -- doesn't look like Dubya, sound like him, act like him -- heck, even his malapropisms aren't as funny as the real deal.

The Kerry impersonator isn't great, but at least his stuff is funny ("Flip-flopping? I'm not flip-flopping! I'm pandering! Pandering! there's a difference!")

I guess we got spoiled by all the years of great or at least good comics doing hilarious takes on Perot, Dole, Clinton, Bush senior, etc. Phil hartman, Dana Carvey, Will Ferrell, Dan Akroyd, Norm -- all quality stuff.

My real question is: since one of SNL's staples is parodying the president, wouldn't one prerequisite when you select a cast be to make sure you have someone who can actually do at least a half-assed funny impersontation? What was Lorne thinking?

So, does anyone find those skits funny? I aint found anyone yet.

I have to agree with you there. We were spoiled by the talents of Phil Hartman etc. I liked his Clinton better than Darrell Hammond's.
I did find the parody of the first debate funny.
Bush: "Workin' hard... orderin' in......comin' in on Saturday...." :pp

I just plane dont find SNL funny any more, Jimmy Fallon was the last really funny person on there, but he just quit. I dont even bother watching it any more. Although i did get to see the Ashlee Simpson thing...wow that was so funny.

SNL is a tad played out. Mad TV is a Buick load funnier.
Though I wish they would stop doing the band thing every now and then, like SNL.
I tune in to laugh, not to hear the latest teen scene song.

I gave up on both. Maybe mad tv will stop doing the stupid political skits that take 15 minutes and no one laughs now though.

My favorite was Akriod's Carter. Watching him talk down a guy high on acid was some great TV.

LOL!! Another great skit was "Pepsi Syndrome" When the guys dumps an "extra large pepsi" on the control panel and causes the meltdown. Then Akroyd/Carter sends in Garrett Morris as the cleaning lady to clean up the radioactive water in the core and they both grow to 10 stories tall. And at the end they're kissing.

    LMAO!!

My favorite political SNL moment: Dan Akroyd as Bob Dole, threatening George Senior during the Republican debates: "How'd you like me to jam this pencil in your neck?"

    That was some funny stuff.

And hey, at least Dole was cool enough to go on SNL as himself and expose himself to even more ribbing. Quality individual.

Dole was like most good high school principals. He goes along with how ever the kids make fun of him. Embracing the laughter, rather then getting mad and attracting more attention.

We got news ones in 10th and they look like Fred and Barney. It was a big joke. Till they dressed up like them during an assembly. Then they were just cool.

    Stupid Bush Impersonater?

You aint talking about Dana Carvey and Will Ferrell are you? because they are the Shat!!! Its especially funny when GW sr. and GW jr. go hunting. With Will Ferrell playing George Junior And Carvey playing Senior. If you DONT like Will Ferrell I highly suggest buying the greatest hits DVDs of him and it will change your opinion quick........(some funny crap)

My bad I guess if I would have read the whole thread then I wouldnt have had to repeat you. The new SNLs kinda suck. Does anyone remember the Bass O' Matic 76? now those were the good days.

I thought the debate skits week before last were very funny. I've been watching off and on for a long time, and I usually find something funny on there...

    Chippendales

On the E channel everyday at like 4 or 6 o clock they show old SNL I watched the one when Patrick Swazey guest starred on it and they did the Chippendales Skit. It was a good one.

Killer Bees and Land Shark were my favorite. SNL is horrible now, and the political skits really lost something.

Up here in Canada we have politicians as a source of Comedy. You US folks seem to use them as decision makers?? It's a shame you folks aren't up on Canadian politics. The only reason I find out who our leaders are is so I can enjoy This Hour Has 22 Minutes and Air Farce.

Impersonations can't hold a candle to The Celebrity Headlock, yup, our PM got to put a 5 minute headlock on the guys who constantly make fun of him. Or "Preston Manning" Interviews Preston Manning? Can you imagine a 50+ woman dressed in Zena garb barging into the Presidents press conference to announce her candidacy... then the president contributing $20 to her cause? The Weekly Rant, The Right Answer, and I won't even discuss Talking to Americans. Then there's the Chicken Cannon...

    Killer.

I agree with everything except Air Farce is the worst show ever. Its not funny. I do how ever love every other Canada comedy show. But Air Farce is bad. How it even stays on TV is beyond me. Must be the laugh tracks.

I go out of my way to catch Canada TV.
