Was there an “early” bracket and a “later” bracket? All the brackets I have were removed from 300 SBB engines, when you try to use them on a 455 the brackets have a flange that won’t allow you to mount the coil bracket. It can easily be ground off but I’m just curious of the details of the different versions. Thanks

    Hi,

I am assuming your putting a coil like they did in 66, 64 and 65 were on the intake manifold, not sure on later years.

Maybe mount it on the manifold or move to firewall or fender?

    Regards,
    Jim

No, I just pulled one off the shelf to use on a 455 and that’s when I learned of the flange. I’ve used them on 300 engines before but the coil is up on the intake like you said. I just took the grinder to it and problem solved for using on this 455. And what you say makes sense because I believe all the non-AC brackets I have came off of 64-65 LeSabres or Skylarks.
