  2. I doubt if you'll mess up anything except your relationship with your neighbors!

Don't stand still too long or you might get a cabin full of exhaust fumes.:(

You'll also need a good set of Ear Muff's:pp :pp

Not to mention.... Local PD doesn't look to favorably towards that, so your wallet might get hurt:(

feh, you'll be fine. like they said, don't idle awhile since you'll be dumping exhaust under the cab, but other than that, you're ok. idle isn't that loud with open headers, the worst part is when you're barely on it. you'll get a very low sound that's pretty annoying. don't go through any big parking lots at about 1500 rpms unless you want to set off car alarms.

I've have a 70 Skylark with a 350 and about a year ago I put headers and duals on it. I did it all in one weekend in my garage with a little help from my dad. I used Hooker Super Comp headers, Flowmaster 2-1/2 inch pipes, and Hooker Aero-Chamber mufflers. I was thinking about using Flowmaster mufflers but I decided against it because I didn't want the Flowmaster sound that everyone has. I don't have a recording of it, but I'll tell ya, it sounds real great. It has a mean rumble at idle and sounds awesome cruzing at 2200 rpm. I think that it's a real good setup and all my car buddies say it sounds great. Hope that helps you out a little.

A few years ago I helped my buddy put dual exhuast and headers on his truck, 91 Dodge Ram 318ci. We put the headers on at his house, then drove it to mine with open headers so we could weld up exhuast. I follwed him from his house to mine, about a mile. When he got on it, I swore a helicopter was landing, it was LOUD. I definatly would not ever want to drive a car with open headers to and from work for a couple weeks, and my drive to work is 5 minutes.
What I would do is get a set of resducers, and 2 cheap mufflers from autozone. Clamp the reducers to the muffler, you may need a small length of pipe to clear things, or use glasspaks, they should clear everything. Bolt it right up there and use some wire to hold it up. Mufflers can be gotten for about $15 a peice. So for $50 or so, you'll have a temperary exhuast that will save you from cops, neighbors shooting you, and you won't go deaf....
