I have no lights in the gauges.
I replace all my fuses this Saturday.
Now one thing did work, the light on the "fuel gauge" did come up, eventhough it was dim. But at least it came on

What could it be besides the fuses? (Car is a '70 skylark w/ a 350)
    Thanks for any help

Turn the headlight switch as if you are dimming the lights. Sometimes they have a dead spot(where all the dash lights will be out). There is one small fuse in the 70-72 Skylark/GS for instruments lights. Are you sure the fuse isn't blowing when you install it? That would mean a short somewhere.

Here is a stupid question, but when was the last time they all worked? Could most of the bulbs be out? Since the fuel gauge has lighting I'd think at least some power is getting to the cluster.
Do what Larry said. If that doesn't work out, check the bulbs, and see if a ground came loose from the cluster.

If all the lights don,t work it is your haed light switch you have dead ,spot turn it back just a notch you be allright or just change it ,I have same problem with my car and that,s the problem , there is no fuse for those, good luck, and if you need the switch try ( Rock Auto.com)

Good chance of one or several of the grounds that aren't doing their job. For a real general statement: Most electrical gremlins are caused by a problem with the grounding wire(s). The grounds will come off the studs that hold the individual gauge pods in place and then run to a main ground lug at the base of the headlight switch.

my rag's dash kept blowing the 4a gauge cluster lighting fuse until I finally ran a ground wire from the cluster terminal thru the firewall to the (-) batt ground on the fender. Wouldn't ground to anything under the dash... But now, it's paradise by the dashboard light :Brow:

Do you have the body grounded to the battery or the engine to the body?
