It doesn't smell, so hopefully nothing is dead. Probably not any cool parts, but who knows. Probably a spare tire, trunk mat and jack. Hopefully, no holes. The rest of the car is solid, even the core support.

I'll let you know when I get it open.

What was the "cut off" year for GM to change the keys around ? My 69, 70 and 71 cars all used the ignition[square] key to open doors, then they changed to the trunk/glove box key[round] opening the door. What year did they change this ? Was 72 the year ? I know I had a 73 Chevy pickup that the round key opened the door. Anyone know exactly ?
I have used the "multiple key' method to get into cars with no key [ I have a can full of GM keys ] , about 7 to 10 keys later one will open it..everytime !!

My locksmith only charges between $12 to $18 to cut a key to a lock, cheaper if I take it in but not bad if I take whole car in either. I wouldnt bother taking the car appart, too much work .:beer

Could you pull off the glove box door and take it to a locksmith to get a key made? Its easy enuff to get off.

    OKAY, we got in!!!!!

I thought I would try every key we had, and the 84 Regal trunk key opened it up just like it was made for it.

    And what did we find???????

CALZONES, must be Joe's old car....

Trunk looks like it is still brand new. The only thing it has is the spare tire bolted down and the jack still under it. No box full of cash.

Locked my keys in the minivan yesterday... in the parking lot at work.

First I panicked... then I remembered this thread.

I asked for the keys to the company minivan (similar chrysler product) and... wouldn't you know, a little wiggle and the key worked. Twas the first key I tried.

First, I was happy... then worried. Man, It's easy to steal these things :Dou:
