No front driver fog light, turn signal works, but no front fog light. replaced bulb with new and still the same. checked wiring and light casing and all seems well, plugged light housing with other side light and it all works. only light that doesn't work, checked fuses and again all looks good. with lights on turn signal works but not constant fog light on, flasher relay ? Any suggestions

Bad wiring to socket, or bad socket.

Make sure it's got the correct bulb in it. Sounds like it's not the right one.
There are 1156 and 1157 bulbs with each having the "prongs" in different places.
If memory serves, the signals should have 1157A bulbs in them.

New Correct 1157 bulbs (1156 is a single bulb. 1157 is a dual purpose bulb)

Check the contacts in the socket with a test light, then work your way back until you find the problem. You are losing voltage from somewhere, either the socket is bad, or the wiring is broken somewhere.

As usual Larry hits the mark. The fact that the blinker is working indicates your ground is probably ok at least. Those front marker light sockets corrode and get crusty. You may just need to clean up the contact surfaces with some sand paper then apply some lithium or (preferably) silicone die-electric grease. Replacement sockets are notoriously hit or miss with these as whereever the forced labor camp in SE Asia making them is located must not like Americans....

I had a very similar head scratcher also, it ended up being the socket grounding in to the housing.
There is a thread somewhere on here I started about this with my fix.

    Wiring / Light Question

Finally fixed that drivers side parking light, it was a grounding issue from the socket to the housing.
All I did was put a bead of solder from the socket to the housing and it works perfect.

Ok. situation yesterday with a beautiful day outside it to work on my life situation, while working on the lights the battery starts to get weak, Get battery charger out, Connect to battery without removing from the car nor did I disconnect the negative or positive leads, and now the car will not crank at all, turn the key fans radio lights everything on, but I get nothing after that, check the starter and all good, battery has a full charge on it, but car will not crank at all not even a bump or a click, click from the starter

Sounds like the battery is dead. It's either that or you have a bad connection at the battery or starter.

Must have blown the fuse at the starter out of the engine harness.Bruno.

Bruno, he says everything works, fans, lights, radio, just won't crank. If he blew the fusible links, nothing would work.

Exactly what I was thinking also, (Car was running great the day before, when I put back in garage)

    1. checked battery and battery charger also a gauge on it showing battery fully charge. reconnected to car tried starting and still nothing.. Turned lights on turn key, all comes on like normal, but final click of key and nothing. lights don't go dim or nothing.

    2. Even put in a new starter, and still nothing. Pulled all wires from starter, visually viewed, wiped and cleaned harness to starter and still nothing, as if starter not getting power ??

Bad cables will let enough current pass for little stuff but won't turn a starter over. Make sure the big bolt that holds the negative cable (also the hinge point for the alternator) is tight. That will cause a symptom like you are talking about. Guess how I know? If it is put a star washer and some die-electric grease under it and snug it up.

Seems odd that you have a battery charger on it and you dont even get a click. doesn't take much to engage the solenoid.

This may sound like a stupid question, but did you giggle the stalk on the column? If its a floor shift auto, try moving the lower bowl of the column back and forth. Sometimes if the column has a little play in it, the neutral safety switch gets slightly out of position. So you get everything, just no power to the purple wire.

If that doesn't do the trick, break out the DVOM and see if you have power going to the purple wire off the neutral safety switch to the starter.

on, my way home, from work, after reading some previous post I have come to realize that I may have done and OOps before working on the lighting issue, I fixed my horn issue shorting out and I remember being under the dash doing so, bet I hit that neutral safety switch and didn't realize it !!

Done f or the night, neutral safety switch was unplugged, installed new starter, plug neutral Safety switch back up, reconnected everything else, and still nothing.... checked all fuses, all good. lights come on radio comes on inside light comes on but turn the key and still nothing

Lets take a step back here and check a few things here. When you turn the key to the start position, your directing 12v from the ignition switch mounted on the column to the neutral safety switch and out to the starter's "S" terminal.

So we need to see if you have 12v at the purple wire to the starter. first thing I would do is find the plug again at the neutral safety switch with the two purple wires. One of the purple wires should have 12v when you twist the key to the "START" position. If so, check the two spades that the plug was connected to. With the car in park, the spades should have continuity through them. if your getting nothing to the starter, not even a click, I would be curious if the purple wire is getting energized to the starter.

You didn't put the purple wire on the "R" terminal by accident did you when you put the starter in? That's a common mistake

It lives !!! Couldn't sleep around 1 a.m., read a few more post and went back to the garage, and there it is, after finding the neutral safety switch unplugged, and re-plugging, had hooked the starter up wrong: Had the purple wire on the "R" terminal, re-did wires, and "Bam, it lives" !!!.. (feel like an idiot but so happy it's fixed)..
