Anyone out there running the Nitto 555R drag radials... Looks like they finnaly started making them in a 275-60-15. Have heard they were way popular with the rice/mustang crowd... Anyone with first hand experience care to speak up??? regards
I have experience with em. They are a waste of money. If you really want quick times at the track, buy slicks. If you want good road handling and wet weather handling, buy regular radials. The only reason to use a drag radial is if your racing class requires it. Phil
I disagree If you want good traction at the track and on the street without the hassel of changing tires, buy Drag Radials. Of coarse Slicks are better for the track, but I like to race my car in street trim including tires.
Drag radials are designed for the street, not the track. It's very simple : street = rough surface, lots of edges to bite with treaded tires. Track = smooth surface, grooves in tread worthless(might as well use a tire 1" narrower). My Mustang got the same 60' time whether drag radials or regular radials(1.9's) With slick or ET Streets, the car ran 1.70 60's. Its fine that you want to run you car in street trim. Just dont believe that you are getting much for the money you spend for the soft rubber. Phil
