Here is a picture of a Bike I spotted at the NHRA Hot Rod Re-union the other week. People doubt that it actually works but I think it looks like it could. Does anyone have any history on this bike? Links or pics of it actually being ridden? Looks neat eh? Bill S.
Who in the hell would ride that thing? I bet you don't steer it, you aim it!:blast: It does look like it would work. Boss Hog makes bikes with sbc power and they do scream and are streetable, but not for me.uzzled:
Boss Hogg also makes one with a 502 BBC. Either way I wouldn't ride one. Too much power in to small of a package.
as a matter of fact, Boss Hogg also makes a bike with a 598 cubic inchbbc-derived merlin aluminum race engine, making a mere 650 or so hp. So thats a power to weight ratio of what, a bajillion to one??? I honestly cant comprehend riding something like that. The guy I talked to that owned one said his had only 2 sppeds, forward and reverse, and in forward it has something like a .5:1 overdrive. When you have that much power for that little weight, i guess you dont need the torque multiplication of steep gears. I'm not sure if thats how they are all made, or if his was a custom-type job, but either way, that is absolutely crazy!!
There is a BossHoss bike running around our town with a mouse motor in it(with really cheap,no name parts store chrome valve covers, but thats not important right now).As far as a Hemi in one, I wouldn't line up against one, but I definently wouldn't pass the chance to take 'er for a launch...er...spin! :Brow: There used to be a guy that ran at dragstrip exibitions in/on a Chevy powered bike back in the '60's.Push start direct drive and all. I read about him in a recent magazine of which I can't currently recall. Anybody remember this?
His name was E.J. Potter, known as the Michigan Madman. There was a recent writeup on him in HotRod or something like that. Bike was direct drive, fire it up on the kick stand, pin it WFO and then rock it off the stand and Hang on:laugh: I've got a picture somewhere of him crossed up , rear tire smokin' open face helmet, Buddy Holley glasses. A true classic! Adam.
