I have a buddy thats building a buick witha th400 and a small nitrous kit(150hp) and thinks he needs a special converter for nitrous. One of thjose ant-ballon plates. I have used a SP400 and had the same (125HP) on my 455 and never hurt the trans at all. 4 years and combo still runs. Does he really need the converter or will a nice B&M work?

For a 150hp kit he shouldn't need anything special.Tell him to buy something decent the first time nothing cheap and no name.

Whether or not he uses a special converter depends on how much horse power he is making without the nitrous. 150 horse kit on a mild combination will not hurt a stock converter. However, if your friend is already making 400 horsepower and adds 150 to that you can run into problems. I ran a 150 shot on one of my cars for a couple of years. went low 12's on the engine and low 11's on the nitrous. I used a 10 TCI converter, never hurt the transmission, but ruined the thrust bearing in the engine. So if your friend is in this range I would get a conveter made for nitrous, cheaper than rebuilding the engine and buying a new crank.
