Okay, now I see it! I was looking at the wrong alignment mark!ou: Yes, in your first picture the timing does appear to be one tooth off. The timing sprocket has 38 teeth. One tooth off would be 9.5 cam degrees....and that would be 19 crank degrees! That is a large amount...I would think the valves would hit the pistons if it was off that much. Are the heads still on the engine?
Some head bolts are longer....The alternator bracket goes on the head, then the longer bolts go thru the bracket and head. Maybe that's what they did?
Heads are still on the engine, compression has been checked and all is just fine.Shims has been put on the bolt wich is under valve cover....every single valve closes to the same hight so i assume none is bend ray: .If it is i will have reason to look deeperAnd i may find something interesting down there..who knows-like connecting rods wich looks like those rare factory vanadium ones posted on one of webrodder's article:Brow: . The good part is,that now when i am waiting for gaskets and timing set to come i can take care of my second winter toy:3gears: :3gears:
Well that a little crazy 1,6 litre 160 hp Peugeot 106... It could go on the ice but racing on gravels is much more funnier:Brow: read faster...:3gears: doin 100-140 mph thru the forest makes you sure that you are alive.... Btw speaking about timing, today in my shop i had car with timing belt jumped 3 tooths. When i was cranking it manually with wrench i could feel valves gently touching pistons at TDC.I had to try it and after aligning marks and puting on new belt i did fire it up and its working like a charm....i hope, that one tooth at Rivi's timing didnt make any mess, i want to drive her this spring:3gears: Isnt that new paint to bright or pink?
I've never seen a car like that, - we don't have Peugeot here in Canada. They tried to sell some 504s in the '70s, but it never quite worked out. Trying to get parts for one is like getting teeth pulled; - difficult and painfull. It must be a blast to drive though; - that small and close to the ground; - I'll bet it handles like a wet dream. The paint job looks a bit bright compared to the rest; - you might as well paint the rest of the engine to match, and no-one would know the difference. I like the chromed screws and nuts though; - it's a nice touch!
I am goin to use that paint on rest of the engine to, just didnt have time to prep rest for painting yet.I am working with small steps.Nuts and bolts are all stainless,i got em from alloyboltz.com.The paint is VHT SP-121 Bright Red ,guess that would fit chebbys better.:spank:
