Did some minor service work on this car. I think this car have spent most time indoors. Not much pitting on the moldings. Nice colours on the front emblem.
    One of my favorite cars. Interior is very nice. Electra 1968 001.jpg Electra 1968 014.jpg Electra 1968 015.jpg Electra 1968 017.jpg Electra 1968 019.jpg Electra 1968 009.jpg Electra 1968 008.jpg Electra 1968 005.jpg Electra 1968 002.jpg Electra 1968 016.jpg Goran

Very pretty car! It's nice to see a sedan get the attention it deserves! 68 is unique in that GM incorrectly anticipated that Congress would make protruding knobs illegal, so that's why they recessed everything and put in thumbwheels; - made changing temperature in the car a source of distraction, but it was pretty neat all the same.

Never seen something like this before. Heating to the carburetor. With vacuum. Goran

I have a 68 Electra and that is definitely not a stock piece.

It looks to be controlled by some type of vacuum actuator. Do you see where that vacuum hose is connected to?

I have no idea what that would be for. It is definitely not stock, and it's not aftermarket. This kind of looks like someone's idea to preheat the carb or fuel or something to try and vapourize it better so that it doesn't burn as much, I think.
It's amazing it hasn't burned down. I'd get rid of it and cap it if it was my car.

I don't think that there is a hole in the exhaust pipe.

No there wouldn't be, otherwise it would be loud as hell.
But still, why wrap a heat source like that around a fuel line? With today's volatile fuels, it's a time bomb waiting to go off. He'd have only done better to to stuff the under hood area with rags and set a match...

And you're able to drive the car without the upper seatbelts in Sweden?

Nice condition; - it looks pretty much new, and it's evident by how clean and shiny everything is that there's a labour of love going on there.
