Hi all, I'm obviously new to the board. I've lurked several threads over the years with different Google searches. Lots of knowledgeable people here. I'm hoping someone can help me figure out a beast I've recently bought. It's a 65 wildcat with a dual 4bbl with 3 in the tree. Can anyone tell me how I can confirm this is how the car came from the factory. (I believe it is), and can anyone tell me how many were made this way.
OK that sounds like a lot of fun! As far as I can tell from the Daily Production Reports all the 3 on the tree cars were built with a 401 aka the Wildcat 445. My theory is that the 3-speed would not hold up to 425/Super Wildcat power... Code on that engine would be LT. I tried to attach a spreadsheet, hang on...
Thanks for the help everyone. That daily production sheet is kinda confusing to little ol me. Was the th400 standard then? It doesn't show an option code for that? And would the options be one the body tag or be on the build sheet only? I was hoping I've bought an extremely rare car worth restoring rather than a parts car. ☹
I posted my interpretation of the data so I could count a few of the options and drivetrains. The 3 speed was the standard transmission. I did not show the ST400 numbers on my sheet., focus on 4-speeds and dual quad cars!
On the Daily production report Each sub model and body style has 4 to 5 sheets of data, I won’t post them since the Sloan Museum has a copyright. They offer copies to individuals for research for a nominal fee.
Sorry, quick question about that sheet..... it has 2 columns indicating 2-4bbl. The one on the left shows A8 as 2-4bbl with 13 built, then to the right shows 4 speed as B3. Further right shows both options together with a production number of 5. Please forgive me as I've never broke down a production number before, but is there a possibility those 13 could have included 3 speed standards or ? On the body tag it shows 1-19 or L-19 by ACC, what does that mean?
I was typing as you put in the post about Sloan. I understand completely . Thankyou for the help. Until I get the car home to confirm if it's even the right engine in it, I'll just sit and dream. Thanks again.
1965 order form says dual quads only available on 425 and not with 3-speed syncromesh, see group A on attached order form. After looking at your tag I think that it says 1-19. If that was a transmission option code, I would expect it to start with M. The BK plant code is for Kansas City, KS. The Kansas City plant used this type of option code listing for 1962-1965 and I've never found a way to decode it. I added another trim tag for comparison.
