Hey there, so I'm a newbie to this forum and I'm from Winnipeg, Canada and just picked up a 71 boattail rivi. This will be my 2nd Buick, my first one was an 84 Regal when I was 16. Since then I've had a 77 Lincoln Continental Mark V which I still own and is fully bagged, painted, pinstriped etc. I've also customized an 82 Cadillac coupe de ville candy painted, 2 pump hydraulics etc. Before you ask or get worried I do love lowriders, thats my passion but with the Rivi I'm planning on going the Lowrod route so no hydraulics or air-ride! I'll get some pics up! First question tho: I do not have keys for my Rivi (long story kinda got screwed but managed to get her home) will it have 2 keys or 1? CAA told me since its pre 74 it should only have one key for lock and ignition but I kinda don't believe that.
Welcome from Calgary my fellow Canadian the board has lots of good people and a few interesting ones you will find out  hahahahahaha your car should have 2 keys one for the door and ignition, and one for the glove box and trunk being a Canadian car you can go to any GM dealer and they can cut you keys based on the vin number ( GM Canada keeps all the codes ) thats an advantage to a Canadian GM car. If they dont have the blanks get the key codes and any "good" lock smith can cut them once you get the key codes ken
Sweet thanks alot man, i'll be doing that as I just got my GM blanks in from ebay yesterday. I'll keep yall posted and I'm trying to post up pics but can't figure it out yet its a bit different than other forums i'm used too.
Welcome from the south.........................part of Winnipeg. Who did you buy that Boattail from?? I know a guy who had one for sale a few years ago. He also has a sweet 67 Riv. BTW, what engine does your Mark V have?
Great bunch of guys here, welcome aboard, after 10 posts you can upload pictures, Hows the mosquito crop this year:laugh: Mel
Not too bad with all the Malathion spray. Without that, I won't go outdoors. There has been plenty of rain this year, and since Winnipeg is basically table top flat, plenty of standing water for them skeeters to lay eggs.
I bought it from a friend of a friend in Prince albert......its pretty solid and I called a locksmith so will hopefully get keys cut for it friday and can get going on it! I'll get pics up as soon as my post count passes 10:beers2:
Terrible...................but they finally sprayed a last week and there doesn't seem to be many left now
Ohh and My Mark V has a 460................didn't think it was that bad on gas and since I don't really drive it much in the city i never really noticed but I drove it out to the Draggins car show in saskatoon and thought it did alright on the highway. Until I drove to saskatoon again last month with a 20foot trailer(91 gmc pulling it) to pick up my Rivi and did the exact same mileage (maybe $50 more total) pulling the trailer and rivi!!!
