No, it ain't a Buick, but I thought there must be a few who would appreciate it. I was visiting family in Buenos Aires and a friend sent me the FB ad while I was overseas. I begun chatting with the guy then and called him immediately when I got home. A friend's cousin had already seen the car so I knew what I was up against, but the car ran well, so any issues with rust and the interior were perfect because I'm a dummy with my hands. This will allow me to enjoy the vehicle somewhat while I learn body work and other stuff. Alas, I have a broken ankle so I will have to wait driving it. It arrived a week ago Saturday, and the following day I found the original owner--all 89 years of him! He was a Mopar guy but bought this. Notice it's a 2-door sedan.....
It has the optional 428/375. It's been 3 months since the ankle. I've been walking with a single crutch for a month, rather than hobbling with two. Now that I'm back in the States, I need to resume phys ed, but I was able to drive it around the block without much issue
Around 5k two-door sedans. 363 Catalina 4-speeds built. 1160 428 Catalinas built. How many two-door sedans with that combo? Believe it or not, those pages are missing from the GM Heritage Center. I bet it's a two-digit car, closer to 10 or 20 but I dunno.
Tri-carb? Or did Pontiac even offer the three deuce in 68? Very cool and different car. Lay off that ankle! my grandparents had a ‘68 Catalina with a 400…sounds kinda funny
This car takes me back for sure. I remember when I was kid (10?) My dad had a maroon one on his lot... It has a very unique look and I was immediately interested it. No memory of the details, just the shape was powerful enough at that age.
How cool - my Dad had a white on white '68 Bonny Convertible. 428 HO (390 hp) with a turbo 400. He said it was every bit as fast the '66 SS396 / 360 Chevelle he had before it. Great story - good luck with it, and your ankle!
Nice. Probably only one of that left with the options that one has. On a side note I went to the Pontiac and Oakland nationals this year and saw more Pontiacs with manual trans than I ever knew they made
Thank you! 135 Bonnevilles among all body styles had the 428 HO. That's straight from the GM Heritage Center. 453 full-size Pontiacs had that engine in total.
This made me smile! Best Friend in High School had a 68 Catalina with the 400 and Auto. Many hours cruising in that beast. The 428 and four speed would have landed us in even more trouble, Enjoy it.
