I got a new trailer. No more driving the car to the track and changing tires!
The trailer place made a huge side door for my car door. Well I had to make ramps so my car door clears the wheel well of the trailer.

Anyone else have to do this?

I put 2x12s on just the left side in my trailer to get the door of my gsx to clear the fender

I don't need to put anything under my tires, and I can open my door of the car when the side door is open without any interference.

Ah I didn't think of just doing the driver side. Lol. Oh well. I screwed down the ramps. It sure makes it interesting driving the car in. Backing out is easy.

Yea for some reason some trailers (like my dad's) needs nothing added for height to open his door.

With the 6" rise ramps in the front, and the 3" total height of the 2x's in the rear, my door only clears the wheel well by an inch or so. I don't think this trailer place does side doors for car doors often.

Seems like a real hassle to do that. Especially those ramps. Isn't that going to affect towing having the car up that high in the trailer? Idk, there has to be a better way

Yea seems like a hassle. I might extend the 2x's all the way to the front ramps so I don't feel like I'm on a roller coaster ride!

If everything is secure to the floor, I think it should be okay. I have some big straps to the floor d rings. (Not shown in photos)

It looks to me like they installed an escape door on a trailer that wasn’t originally designed for one given the higher sill height. See if the dealer can lower the sill and make a filler panel and possibly modify the inner fender.

My trailer is the same way. Can't open the door on a GS. But a second gen Riv, clears just fine. Luckily I'm only 145lbs, so I can squeeze in and out

That ship has sailed, they sent me a CAD file with a dimension to the sill, 17" from floor. I just didn't check it. My fault. I said go ahead and move forward.

The bottom of my door is 14" from floor. I did measure their fenders inside, those were 11" tall. So clearance was there. I just missed their drawing showing 17" to door. Oh well. The trailer is great in my opinion. $12,500 paid

Without ramps I can still get out, I just put a blanket against the door sill for my door to rest against. But then what's the point for the door in the trailer? I paid $750 for that door! Lol

Definitely something for us all to look at
I was about to say blanket or carpet the wall

Hmmm. Don’t have a side door. And can squeak by without the door edge touching the inside of the trailer. I am smaller. 5’8 156 lbs. depending on what time of year it is. lol pretty high end trailer. And think the inside walls are made slightly thinner with bare minimum space between the outside wall, 102” outside. I winch it in and out.

Here’s the ramps I made, I had to raise it 5” to clear the escape door.
