    Hey,

Just joined up to the site. I'm more into Olds' but I just picked up a 455 Buick that I may rebuild in the near future. I don't really know what i'm gonna use it for, but i'll worry about that later.

The 455 I picked up, i'm told is a 1970, how would I be able to tell if it is or not? or what year it is? I didn't get any casting/ID #'s off it yet.

SS, SR or SF if a 70 on the deck below the back two plugs drivers side.

    Welcome to the board!!

Use this link below to cross-reference casting numbers on your motor:

    http://buicks.net/shop/reference/bigblock_casting_numbers.html

That should tell you exactly what year it is. Make sure you ID the intake, block, and heads, because lots of years will bolt to each other, and it could be a hodge-podge motor.
