Welcome! And good choice in '64, of course I am a little partial . Lots of good, knowledgeable people here, that have a lot of good advice. Best of luck with your project!

Didn't you really rather have a Buick!! (Re: New to Buicks)

    Howdy ddtdhbuick,

First, welcome to V-8 Buick!! [IMG]

[IMG] Awe shucks!! What took you so long to finally realize that you "would really rather have a Buick!" :Brow:

Seriously, welcome aboard! Those of us with Buicks from the mid-60s are something of a fraternity even with within da' Buick Brotherhood. :3gears:

    Cheers, Edouard :beer

P.S. First names are always appreciated as we are a friendly lot and pics are especially welcome!! :kodak:

    I'm new also...
    Bought a 67 Buick GS 400 in November, 1968, had 11,000 miles...champaign mist, 4 speed, buckets...
Flipped it over 2 weeks after I bought it, repaired, drove it thru college, went thru one clutch and engine...
Traded it for a 69 GTO in 1970, regretted it my entire life...

I'm 65 now, retired, have owned 88 Mopars (including 3 hemicudas and two super birds) but have only a few cars left...
Never could shake the idea of that 67 GS...

So two weeks ago (Feb. 1, 2013) a beautiful champaign mist 67 turns up on cars online...inspected by Nick Jarek as
One of the most original 67s he's ever seen, down to mileage, original unblemished glass, original rare radiator (a/c)
And trunk rubber and AM/FM radio...Couldn't turn down reliving some memories...

My plans are to convert it to consolette 4 speed with buckets just like I had. How do I post photos? Oh, and I want the black steering wheel like my car had, if anyone can help...thank you, Bruce Kepley Bkepley@Carolina.rr.com 704-907-6495.

By the way, photos still on cars online if anyone wants to see it...

Welcome to the forum. There is a lot of information that can be here. The 64 Specials are unique, the convertible is a plus and people really enjoy seeing something different. I can't tell you how many times I have been told " Thanks for keeping it original".

Thanks guys, I am finding out that parts are difficult to find.
That will not stop me from restoring a truly unique car.

    That's it!!

Two Mopar buds (myself and Richard Garland) drove 25 hours roundtrip in a 2005 hemi daytona ram to pick up this
Memory of my youth...was on cars online...owned by 76 year old guy, his friends had 6 Hemi cars, 4 were original
Super stock cars, 2 of which he bought brand new!

If you friend him on Facebook (Richard Garland) you will see 192 photos of the fantastic journey (February 11-13, 2013, this past week)...

Things I need for my GS...
    Black steering wheel
    Original 4 speed steering column
Original Muncie 4 speed shifter, linkage, muncie

I've only been a member of your site for 2 days but have been really impressed, very close knit like the
Mopar community, same passion...thanks to all of you...especially for posting the photos of the 67 GS...
I live in the same area as John Looney and Nick Jarek, both are friends, will lean on their expertise as
We go thru the conversion process to the consolette 4speed, bucket seat process...

There are a lot of people using the name Richard Garland on Facebook, I think it will be much easier if you post the URL to his page :TU:
