Hello. Im trying to find out some info on an older Buick motor. I myself deal strictly with Oldsmobile and some chebby cars. My buddy however has a 1967 buick Le Sabre in great shape but needs engine help. He says it came -w- a 340 but has a 350 Buick in it. I have found a half dozen #'s on the car but don't know what they mean for this car. I can't find any good info sites for buick and noone in my neighborhood deals with old Buicks. If you can give me some tips or even some good links I would really appreciate it.
67 would have come with a 340. Easiest way to tell is by looking at the exhaust manifolds, if there are 2 exhaust ports in the center (like a chevy) then it is a 350 buick, if there is a gap between the center ports it is a 340. What info specifically are you looking for? Dan
To GS69350: Thanks for the I.D. tip I'll get to go by tommorrow and look at it. Another Question is : which motor would be better as far as mods, H.P., availability of parts, reliability, flaws, ... etc.? My friend doesn't know anything about cars and he doesn't know which motor he wants. Thanks to dariggs for being willing to help. hope to hear about some buick info soon. Howal
Not the 340, aint much of nothing out there for it BUT, its a sweet little motor just like it is.
I found an old Riviera that had some lights mounted on the front quater panels on either side of the hood. I wonder if someone can tell me what these are. They each have three wires each going to what appears to be a seperate light? I know caddies had the turn signals in the hood and mopar had the choke rigged up on dimmers going to the "racing lights". Just interested as I think they add a little class to the extremely otherwise beutiful Riviera GS.
I believe some of the full sized cars had indicator lights on either side of the hood, The three seperate lights you're talking about should be green red and amber. Each color lights up to tell the driver if the head lights, high beams or flashers are on.
Does anyone know about the split drive shaft on a 67 Le Sabre? My friend want's to go with a single drive shaft because he keeps breaking the saddle bearings. Any suggestions?
