I'm thinking of putting a 455 into my camaro, and I'm wondering, I've heard that the buick is the smallest of the BOP 455's is this true? how do the dimensions of the buick 455 compare to the small block chevy?
How's the market for go fast parts?

Don't know about the actual physical dimensions of the BBB, but I do know that it is one of GM's lightest big blocks. It weighs roughly 616 lbs., which is about 150 lbs more than a SBC. The aftermarket is good for our BUicks despite the fact that we do not have a heavy duty aftermarket block yet. You have to use a girdle for the crank after about 550 HP. Be prepared to pay considerably more for go fast parts. Chevy's are cheap to build, Buicks are not. But all that low RPM torque is what makes it worth it.

I understand about the cost of go fast goodies, I'm thinking I'll do pretty good w/ just a good cam, carb, headers, and port and polish on the heads.

  4. What year camaro are you putting this in? I had been toying with putting a buick 350 or 430 in a first gen camaro since I have a friend with one of each just sitting around and there's plenty of project camaros around here.

A BBB is about 125 lbs lighter than a BBC, and with aluminum heads the weight gets to be in the neighborhood of a SBC.

Keep us posted on the project!

For go fast parts....check out www.taperformance.com. Also, there is another place called Poston buick (don't have their site bookmarked). Both places offer all the engine parts you could want. Also, TA has a conversion kit for putting the BBB in your car I believe. I actully went to Scottsdale on business and took the time out to visit TA. I could spend a lot of money there...I mean I could spend a lot more money there.....
