no need to estimate proper sizes. look up the subwoofer model number online and/or read the manual and it will suggest the correct sizes for both sealed and ported applications.

    Rich,
I am building one enclosure for both 12" Subs with a 2" Parabolic RFL voice coil. This is what is recommened for this Sub. They are a generic brand from Acoustic Audio. So following the formula that I found on line that is what I came up with. I am no whiz at speakers so are you saying that PORTED is The better way to go? I also plan to put a Baffle between the two so that I don't get all he sound waves smashed together.

Don ...depends on what you listen to.....ported enclosure will give you punchy bass and require less power sealed will offer a tighter sound but requires more power typically ,what are you using for power (amp) ?? if the driver requires 2 cubes per sub separate chambers or a baffle between them would be beneficial gives a area for sound waves to "bounce" against...good luck

btw.....making the enclosure to "tight" often timeswill pop the sub and screws right out there is a fudge factor when it comes to enclosure sizes

I am using 2 1600 watt 4 channel amps bridged, I am going to use 2 channels for the inside speakers and the other two for the subs, It has a control switch for using subs with it..I Like good old Rock and Roll....New Country and Blues......What size port would I put in it? I also know about the Fudge factor..........I have seen sub boxes come apart when turned up!:error:

Don....i say keep it simple both subs in the right size and chambered enclosure (one per side of course) and you'll be perfectly happy you have more than enough power to support a sealed box!!.....good luck

i have to agree a single can hit sharper than a dual..
i was told that theese trunks are almost the proper size to use the entire trunk..
make air ports on the package tray.. seen it done in a malibu...

also take into concideration that theese old cars will rattle and tattle on the outside to the audience.. things you will not hear on the inside..
someone sitting at the light next to you will..:dollar: :dollar:
