I have a 1970 Stage One convertible which has been through a frame off restoration. There are a few items remaining to be done. A man named Steven L. Dove wrote a book called "Guide to Buick Gran Sports, America's Ulitmate GS by Buick" in 1988. I think Mr. Dove is deceased. Does anyone in the group know how to obtain a copy or a copy of a copy? I'm assuming this would have been and still may be usefull to me. Thanks Skeet

Congrats on the New Stage 1, Welcome aboard and good luck on your search. If some could help you it would be someone on this board. How about some Pix of the beast.

You can keep an eye on Amazon.com and try to get one. They are a bit pricey(original 88 copy) also, there was another produced around 93, I believe. They have alot of good info in them, but there has been alot that has been disproven or even updated. You could always try to find the leather bound edition, but be really prepared to shell out money.

There is much much more info here and www.Buickpartsdirectory.com referencing other sites.

A Buick factory Assembly Manual, Buick Chassis Manual and Buick Parts manuals are far more useful.

    Hi,

Please consider registering your car in the factory stage1 registry, if you haven't done so already.

I did try to get the Dove book on Ebay on the 11th, but just missed it. The auction was over. It is available on Amazon for about $65 but not sure I want to pay that much. thanks. Lee/skeet

I have to agree with Flynbuick about this GS book by Steve Dove. I do pull my copy off the shelf periodically and it does have some quick facts and figures, but .... there is a lot more info available now since either printing/edition of this book was released. I have a copy signed by Steve Dove and that is probably the reason I am so attached to it - rather than the actual info - and the fact that I bought the book when I got my GS ... like you. I don't think you will be dissapointed, though, if you do get a copy.

I've seen Lee's car and it is nice!. He knows the car's history as it stayed in his hometown and I think he is the 3rd owner.

OK Thanks. I have some pictures but don't know how to post them. Sent a couple to one of the other members upon request. He is supposed to post them for me. Where would they be on the site?

    Lee,

If you send me an email with the pictures attached, I'll put them on the registry website.

PS - The build date is on the cowl tag, 3rd line down under the trim code (TR)
