72 stage 1 Is that a kentucky plate on the back of that beautiful car ????? if so, what county ? . IT'S a very nice find :TU: to bad i didn't find it while it was still in kentucky  keep us posted on your resto project
Yes sir, the gauge package was an option. You could get the tach, but mine didnt come with it. I plan on putting an nos gauge on the hood though. They look beautiful on there.
Yeah the guy that I bought it from used to live in Kentucky around 7 years ago. He told me that everyone knew that he owned that car and kept pestering him about selling it. He finally just moved. He made it sound like he move because of the car lol, but Im sure there is much more to it than that. When he moved, he rented a space at a storage area complex(small single garage space). Its been sitting there since he moved to MS. He didnt want to sell it to me at first, but my father and I drove 6 hours (in a rollback)to see the car and he priced it to us. Needless to say, within the next few seconds, the car was loaded on the rollback and we were headed back to Booneville. He even took 500 less than what he priced it for. When we got back to our houses, it was 3:30am and the first thing my wife said when I walked in and woke her up was......."You better have brought that stupid car home with you after staying out all night". Pretty funny huh. I will certainly keep everyone up to date because Im pretty excited about it. Im so excited that my father and I are selling our 67 baracuda on ebay to pay for the motor. Were not plymouth fans, but we bought it (split the cost) because it was so rare. Its a 273 commando v8 convertible. The auction ends mid-day tuesday. The reserve is at what we paid for it 3 months ago. Which is 5500. That should get us some nice parts for a motor. We have a 455 out of another car that we are using (we are keeping the original drivetrain in our storage area). We are building this car to drive and show, but the last thing we would want to do is blow up a matching numbers motor. Im impressed with how everyone is so nice and encouraging on here. Kinda like a big family. I appreciate it.
Make sure you get someone that really knows Buick engines to build the motor because there are certain aspects to our engines that are a little different and must be kept in mind to make sure the engine will last, such as main and connecting bearing tolerences. There are many articles in here outlining what is needed.
Yes sir, I will certainly get someone that knows all about these cars/engines. I only want the best. Id rather pay to get it done right than to get out cheap and end up blowing my engine. Thanks for the advice.
I talked to Mr. Jim Weise today and I have to say, I am very impressed. He was very patient to explain everything to me. I have decided to send my frame (drivetrain and running gear included) to him for a full restore. Im keeping the body to do myself. I think that would be the easiest way to make sure everything is perfect. That would save me a lot of guess work. I know it will cost quiet a bit of cash, but I feel like I am making a good decision. Please chime in and let me know all of your thoughts.
Wait until he posts the picture show for the triple black 70 stage one convert he just finished just like the GSX. I can say from hands on experience there is a lot more to getting a rolling chassis decked out like you see in those pics than meets the eye. There is nothing like having been there and having done that plus having the facilities to do it.
You must mean this one Jim... :TU: Pretty sure that Matt is after something that looks like this, to get his project rolling..
Too bad we had to cover it up with this.... Well... OK.. I guess it wasn't that bad a deal... :TU:
