I have a brand new still in unopened package engine wiring harness for a 455 Auto with no AC. This is made by American Auto wire and is very high quality. Still in sealed package. $90 +Shipping. These list for $170 Trash your brittle old original.
Functionally, I do not believe there is any difference. Curious what others would say. Great price without a back order of weeks which M&H run.
Again this is for a non AC application only. Not sure on the engine side difference but I compaired the interior dash harness of a 71 vs a 70 and at least one of the wire hookups is different between the two. So I am guessing where it snaps into the engine harness at the firewall is different as well so I would advise against using it on a 70 or funny things might happen. GMC let me know if you are going to pass as Steve M. is next in line.
If you are looking for a new one.. I recommend M&H http://www.wiringharness.com/ This past weekend I put a new one from them in my 70 w/AC and it fit nicely. Included wiring for brake light, Trans down shift Solenoid, voltage regulator, AC, Temp sensor, distributor resistance wire, Trans Spark Solenoid, oil pressure sensor, alternator, and starter. I have a newer alternator thats internally regulated, so I also got a kit from them that allows you to hook that up with a factory look, and remove the voltage regulator from the firewall. installation was much easier than I thought. A quality piece for sure. One of these days I'll spring for the interior harness and it will be from M&H too.
I believe the M+H and American Auto Wire sell the same stuff. They have the same part numbers. American usually has quicker service.
